There's a thread on the other side about audio books, which got me thinking about my personal audio passion. I love listening to radio plays. It started a few years ago with the local station that played Imagination Theater on Sunday nights. Then I found a pile of old plays on Napster when that was still around. Then I found Radio Lovers that archives old shows on line.
My favorites are the old Ray Bradbury plays. He did a lot of scripts in the 50s and 60s based on his short stories. He is the king of scifi short stories, ya know. He also had a set of his stories done in the 80s called Bradbury 13. It was once a month for a year. Really well done, at Brigham Young, I think. A lot of the stories are the same ones done during his tv show on cable, but they are much, much better when done on the radio.
I get into audio books as well, but they're very expensive and take longer. I prefer the radio plays and short stories because they wrap up within an hour. I downloaded a bunch of steven king short stories done on audio as well. Good stuff.
Somehow along the way I picked up Ender's Game on audio and a short story by OSC called A Plague of Butterflies. Fascinating story, I can listen to that over and over again.
Most recently, the local station picked up Twilight Zone radio show on sundays as well. A lot of the stories I've seen the tv version, but on the radio it takes on a whole new life.
I really dig listening to this stuff. If you're interested, take a look at the links I posted.
PS I found a link for the Bradbury 13 plays online. If you have a chance, listen. They are great.
