Oh man, this is like NavyField but with better graphics and with tanks!

Firstly its fully 3D, the graphics are pretty good for a beta and realistic.

Also the gameplay while there are some handwaves for balance is also realistic; basically you go down a techtree (however there's nothing stopping you from investing the time to go down every part of the tree) for either the German, British or Soviet tank trees.

The tree itself is divided for each team between self propelled artillery, tank destroyers, heavy tanks, and medium tanks (starting from light) and each tank has its own mini-tree of 'equipment loadouts' based on historical/napkinwaffle modules, guns, equipment that was used.

And in a nod towards common sense theres nothing stopping you from using a gun you got for the SU-76 with say that T-34 you unlocked, you can equip say better suspension for a tank so that you can put on heavier stuff on it, like engines, the gun, the turret, etc.

The game also is pretty realistic in that it properly calculates things like deflection (from sloped armor vs non slopped armor), armor penetration at different ranges, etc.

Like Navyfield newer players will probably be a bit frustrated in that they can just start with their "LOL-Traktor" newbie tankette and be utterly and completely useless in the game because the enemy team is decked out with Tiger II's and IS-4's.

But on the other hand any real tank buff will appreciate this step towards realism because nothing is more lame then a Panther being able to one shot a tankette from 900 yards aft.

The tank tree's themselves if you were wondering is padded out by using the prototype tank designs as well as the intermediatary steps, so the A-20 (despite never more then maybe 3 produced) is a fully operational tank for play inbetween the BT-7 and the T-34. and the late game tree padded out by various nampkenwaffle designs such as the Maus for the Germans.

Maps are randomized so you'll see hilarious combinations of a Tiger and a KV-1 on the same team versus the same, balance is kinda screwed up though.

google up "Curse" and "wold of tanks beta keys" to get a beta invitation into the closed beta.

I guess I'll play it one day.

Dwarf Fortress gets first swing though.
