I'm sure that this very question has arisen at some point or another...but I felt kind of left hanging at the end of CotM ...Is it similar to the assertion that OSC made in one of the Alvin Maker books that his stories were not to be tied into neat little packages and that some of what is will be left out?...If I have the quote a little skewed please do not bother to reply if you are just arguing semantics.

Since OSC is working on Shadow of the Giant to follow up Shadow Puppets, I believe that at one time or another he may work on a sequel to COTM. While I can't be sure, I believe that OSC may have left COTM open so that he could continue it at one point or another, like Shadow Puppets.

I thought he'd said something at one point about being wrong about thinking all stories related to those books had already been told (or something like that) when he decided to do the thing with SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER Bean's kid and Ender-as-Peter END OF SPOILER. So I think he might have left it that way on purpose and then changed his mind. But of course since I'm not him I'm probably wrong to some degree at least.

Unless beans child is traveling at relativistic speeds...how on earth could he meet up with an instant transmission Ender-Peter?

How do we know Bean's kid won't travel at relativistic speeds to meet Ender-as-Peter? [Big Grin]

I suppose but even for Sci-Fi ...it strikes me as inconceivable...must just be my narrow mind. Btw thank you for the welcome..I really appreciate it.

Well, if Bean's kid leaves Earth only a decade or two or even less after Ender does, and hops around from place to place, it's not inconceivable. After all, Ender is only a couple years older than Bean, and Ender got there. Plus, Bean married young and the kid could go off into space at a REALLY young age.

well, think about this. In sftd, xenocide, and cotm, relativistic time travel happens all the time, bricks. (Mazer also does it in EG when he comes to teach Ender - remember when Ender says that it's not possible for him to still be alive, but Mazer says that he thought it was worth all his friends and family being dead when he went back to his home if he could train Ender to beat the Buggers). I don't think it's inconceivable, either. But we are all entitled to our own opinion. Ah!! This moment needs to be put in an album!! The first time I'm quoting someone besides OSC...

I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

Still, OSC is the only one who I quote with faith!! [Hail]

didn't Ender stay in some places for a pretty long time, so if Beans kids went to meet them without stopping anywhere then wouldn't they make it within time? Or am i missing something?

I agree with you , Ksig!! But variety in ways of thinking is what keeps the world spinning, or at least that's what some people with a view unlike mine would say... [Roll Eyes]
