I discovered Enders Game at the library at the end of the summer. i remember my cousin recommending it to me, so i got it out. i started reading it one morning on vacation and literally didnt put it down. i read for about 8-9 hours straight and finished it in less than one day. i was utterly in awe. i immediatley went out and bought the entire series. I'm currently on Xenocide and am taking it at a slower pace because life gets in the way when you're not on vacation, but i'm still just as enthrawled as i was at first.

how many authors do you know who can give you an adrenaline rush? i laughed, i felt like crying, i felt like i was THERE. i've never read another author i've even come CLOSE to enjoying as much as i enjoy Card.

One of my favorite things about his writing style is that you are given little tid bits of information at a time and the whole picture is there by the end of the story, and then orson write three pages of story and brings EVERYTHING into focus. all the things you were wondering are clarified, all your questions are answered, etc. the writing style is downright brilliant.

I actually couldnt find Shadow Puppets at the time so i'll have to buy that one when i'm done with these that i have. [Smile] one of my friends who is also a huge card fan said that shadow puppets was their fav next to Enger Game so i cant wait to get to it...

But anyway, i just had to proclaim to wonders of Card to people who probably already know them. i just really enjoyed the books and am really excited about continuing in the series.

Don't read Shadow Puppets before reading Ender's Shadow and Shadow of the Hegemon. You'll be completely lost if you do.

electron, I don't believe that reading the books in the order he wrote them will do you much good. It's not as though OSC... hail the Almighty OSC [Hail] !!!!! had a plan for each books in mind when he began writing the first one. Did you know that he started to think about the idea that became EG when he was 16? That's very cool!!!!! [Big Grin] I don't think OSC... hail the Almighty OSC [Hail] !!!!! would mind if you read them in order, so you wouldn't be surprised. Believe me, there are some things that would realy disappoint you (after reading SP) when you read ES or SOTG. Please!!!!! In the name of the Almighty OSC [Hail] !!!!! do NOT , I repeat, do NOT read SP before ES and SOTG!!!!!

LOL, shadow puppets is the latest one out, so I Will be reading it last. (Or in the case that Shadow of the Giant comes out first, i will be reading ti second to last followed by Shadow of the Giant.)

Am I mistaken in the order in which they came out? Shadow of the Giant isnt out yet right? Can someone please post up the order in which they came out so I know what order to read them in?

what i HAVE right now:

Enders Game
Speaker for the Dead
Xenocide (about 1/3 the way through this)
Children of the Mind
Enders Shadow
Shadow of the Hegemon

I'll be buying Shadow Puppets when either the price comes down, it comes out in paperback, or I have no choice but to buy it because I've read all of them up until it.

Please correct any errors on my part.

-Ryan

See, I bought EG in the YA section so instead of having a lovely list of all the books OSC had written, it has a list of all the books the publishing company is converting from adult to YA. Since ES happened to be coming out soon in YA, it was on the list and I assumed it was the sequel to EG. So I read slightly out of order, because I went to SFTD right after ES. Basically, I took the scenic route through the series. (Since I then had to reread ES before reading SotH) Oh well. I still love the series (I happen to be rereading the Ender books now. Has anyone else realized what an AWSOME name Ender is? I wonder why no one else has thought of it before. It really is a cool name. Ender. Wow. I'll just stop now, shall I?) [Big Grin]

I think I'll name my child (it'd better be a boy) Ender. Even though Ender originated from Valentine not being able to say "Andrew", Ender is Ender's name...if that makes sense. Plus, Ender is a great person and I think anyone with that name should be honored. [Big Grin]

Hehe, instead of telling my kids about my family, I'll just tell them about the history of Ender Wiggin and his friends. [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

that would be so cool to be called ender! (By the way this is my first post!!!) The way i found out about my fav. author is that i just happened to pick up the book and started reading (i was on vacation) and i read it in two days. That was about two years ago i think, now i'm adicted and am reading my little bro enders game [Smile] The only other author who i think has come even CLOSE to being as good as OSC is Dan Brown.
OSC YOU RULE!!!!!!!

Welcome Ksig. I think you'll eventually learn that I more than like OSC's books, I worship them. Just ask... hail the Almighty OSC [Hail] !! This post adds new meaning to my saying "It's really great here at Hatrack", reason being that I just finished The Seventh Son and realize that Hatrack is more than a community. So, it's really great here, Ksig. [Wink]
