I don't post here very often, but i "lurk" all the time. Anyway, I'm 16 years old and I live in Anchorage, Alaska. I was able to talk my parents into letting me go to Portland (with my mom) so I could go to the OSC signing. I was just wondering how early I should plan on getting to the book store, and if it would be easier to get to the signing in Borders or in Powell's?

Welcome to the forum, Crystal. 2 posts in 4 months, yeah, you're definitely a lurker. Nothing wrong with that though. You should post more, even if you have nothing to say. . . that doesn't seem to stop plenty of other Hatrackers.

If you don't want people teasing you about your post count just use the last post thread as an excuse to get some posts. Of course everyone would hate you, kind of like everyone hates Rhaegar the Fool . Take that Rhaegar! (I wonder if he'll ever read this)

When you say you lurk here, do you really mean that you are cyber-stalking me? 'Cause I'm cool with that.
Okay I'll stop creeping everyone out now. If you don't have anything to say, just randomly insult someone, it's fun and it's a great way to increase post count.

*screams like a little girl and falls off of chair* It was just a lucky guess, now I'm scared. Stop invading my privacy, what I do on the internet is my buisiness...business...awww crap, now I can't spell properly, I blame you.

Crystal, just out of curiosity, is there any reason that you don't post? Are you afraid of having your head bitten off? Come on, join in the Hatrack experience, add your personal flavor to the mix, you know you want to.

Just so you know, the Powell's signing in Portland has been changed from 2:00 until 3:00. Kristine

I usually just don't have time to keep up with all the posts between school and work so I don't bother posting anything, but I'll try to post more.

Kristine, I heard a rumor that the Borders signing was going to be changed too. Is it still at 7:00 pm?? Is Scott speaking at that one??

And another question, when I stand up in the middle of questioning and ask when the Ender's Game movie is coming out, will you shoot spit-balls at me?

Another way to up your post count is to play that great game Begging the Question. And making random comments in threads. Like this one for example.

Making spitballs is easy, all you have to do is rip off a little bit of paper (no smaller than 1 square inch, and no larger than about 1/3 of a sheet) and wad it up. Then suck on it for a bit and you have a spit ball. Now if you really had your act together you would've made it about the right size to go in a straw, and then you could really shoot spitballs, but just throwing them is far more common, if not quite as effective.
I'm only telly you this because I have no intention of asking when the movie is coming out, or at least every intention of bringing a shield for when I do.

*asks innocently* Isn't the Los Angeles signing before the Portland one? 'Cuz I'd be happy to teach Kristine how to make spitballs, if she'd like.

LOL- Some of you people really scare me... Why do I have to enter awkward and interesting threads?

There is a slight chance that I may go to the Portland signing. I wouldn't mind strapping you to the roof of the car with a few bungee cords.

Bungee cords, eh? Did someone tell you that was my favorite mode of transportation, or was it a lucky guess?

I thought the brisk winter air would be nice.
Actually, I'm not sure how I'm getting there. I just moved back from NYC, where a car was unnecessary. I, therefore, don't have one. I'm hoping it gets icy out so I can just hitch a ride on someone's rear bumper.

Hey, we almost had winter for a minute there, didn't we? But no go. Maybe you should get some in-line skates and a tow rope.
I'm not going to make it myself. Enough planning ahead could have netted a cheap plane ticket, but I must have been obsessed with something else at the time. The really painful part is that my dearest friend from high school lives in Portland (and works at Borders!). But it's a bad time to spend money...plus, my husband is on call that weekend and would be sad if I went to see our friends without him.
So I still think the solution is for OSC to come to Boise. He'd like it here, don't you think?

I just got to Portland about an hour ago. I can't wait until tomorrow. We accually found the hotel w/o getting lost! I'm just glad I was reading the map and not driving- the driving around here is crazy.

It was great to meet Scott yesterday in Beaverton. I only had to stand in line for an hour and made friends with just about everyone in hearing distance. It was great just being around people who knew what I meant when I said I wish I had my own doodle bug.
I've been a frequent reader on the main web site almost since it's inception, and once upon a time was a member of this board, but I'm not much of a poster and I can't even remember what my old user name was, so thought I'd give it a fresh start.
No promises that you'll see me post a lot, but from time to time I'll pop out of lurkerville and throw in my .02 cents.
