So, I read Lois Lowry's "The Giver" about a year ago. (Yes, I know, it's a young adult book, I'm still getting my reading legs) And as I was reading it, I realized something. This story had to be at least somewhat influenced by "The Worthing Saga" (I read that one before "The Giver", can you believe that). I thought that was interesting, and wondered if anyone else had made that connection (Or if anyone else had read that book).

I was required to read "The Giver" in 4th grade that was really the first book that i had ever picked up and just read it straight through...great book...but no way in my mind can i make a connection to The Worthing Saga and The Giver. It is possible but i just dont see it that way :-D

I don't see it. As for people with light (or different) eyes having special powers, that sounds like a concept that goes way back to me. I will look this up and get back to you.

You're probably right. I haven't really read enough to know much about it.

I read this book when I was a kid. It's about a girl with odd eyes who has special powers. It does seem to be a recurring theme in literature,

Rereading the Giver as an adult (or at least a lot older than I was when I first read it) I wasn't nearly as impressed as I was as a child.

I continue to be impressed with Worthing Saga though.

I agree that they both attempt to make the same point, but I think Worthing Saga makes it much much better.

Hm, It's been a while since I've read the Girl with Silver Eyes... Fun one, I've never read The Giver... Shame on me. ^_^
