I would like to draw your attention to this site. It is a good idea to have the general public vote for and recommend books and authors. Unfortunately the site is currently hijacked by people obsessed with Erin Hunter and Robert Stanek (who may well be good authors) which detracts from OSC who has a favourable representation and Tolkein amongst others who do not get fair reflection. I feel this should be 'evened up' to provide balance.

Remember: The enemy's gate is down.

C'mon folks, we've at least gotta get him in the top 100 recommended authors! That's embarassing! What kind of lame fans are we? [Wink]

Um, Narnia, OSC is in the top 100 -- #18, to be exact. If about 30 Hatrackers go recommend him, he can get spot #17. [Big Grin]

Well -- this may be a rude comment but I remember finding "reading Orson Scott Card books" as being a sign that one is highly gifted intellectually. Maybe we're just more intellectually capable than the other posters at SFBookshelf? Christie

OSC is beating such well know authors as Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clark, and Philip K. Dick. That's gotta count for something.

The dogs are English Springer Spaniels, they are brothers.

I know this may be obvious but remember to:

Click on recommend author and to also vote for the books.

I think it's pretty clear that this ranking is far from authoritative. [Smile]

Terry Pratchet is ahead of OSC, that right there shows that the list is stupid... Read a discworld novel and had to force myself to finish it, i've never read an OSC book that I wasn't dissapointed because it ended...

*cough* You know, Bork, you could have said anything else, but you had to go talking smack about Pratchett. Now you've made an enemy for life.

My buddy was telling me that he found a hardcover book the other day and it was by OSC. it was like 5 short stories about different stuff like how Andrew Wiggin's father was supposed to be the ender but was unsuccessful, another was a story that took place while Ender and Val were going from world to world between EG and Speaker. Does anyone know anything else about this book? Like a title, so I can buy it stat.

Ender's father wasn't unsuccessful, he was uninterested. The book is called _First Meetings in the Enderverse_. I didn't see it in the "Library" and I'm having trouble linking the Amazon.com site, but you can search for it. Christie
