I've heard that English beat German by 3 votes when the United States were deciding their official language. Otto Von Bismark once said in responce to a question "Because north americans speak english", I forget the question though can anyone remind me?

It's probably because I've been drinking, but I think it would be a fun game to time how long it takes people to find whether this rather dubious story is accurate and what the quote supposedly is. It took me 32 seconds. Beat that.

The forums are divided somewhat by subject matter but also by comfort level. Many posters feel more comfortable on this side of the forum and so may broach topics here that don't necessarily fit into its thematic scope. It's not a perfect system, but it works for us, not the least of which because some of the stuff that goes on on this side would make people who mostly post on the other side's teeth ache.

I don't know. 12 seconds? I knew about Snopes, and had a good enough idea where to find this page that I clicked each link right the first time.
To be fair, though, I didn't look for anything about Bismarck's alleged quote. So I lose major points for that.
