I have found this in a web page. I haven't was an idea, is it true? (Sorry if not this one very well translated)

Orson Scott Card will continue the foundation

Orson Scott Card has announced that it(he,she) has come to an agreement with the inheritors of Isaac Asimov to write a new trilogy of the series of the "Foundation" and that there will suppose the union of both big sagas of the science fiction of all the times: Ender and the Foundation.
The same Card has indicated that the titles(degrees) that will compose the trilogy are:

Hari Sheldon and Ender
Ender and The mule
Third Foundation: Ender's secret

They were traversing rumors that Arthur C. Clarke also had offered, in collaboration of several authors to fuse the series of Asimov with his(her, its) of Branch in an ambitious so called work " Foundation Branch ". Offer that has been pushed back by the inheritors for considering her(it) to be slightly profitable on having treated itself about the only book, instead of the three proposed ones for Card. " The peels it, is peels it " Jordi Asimov has affirmed descendant of the mythical Jewish author.

Are you serious? I'm not sure that it is a good idea for a couple of reaosns:

As Card himself said in Ender's Game that Asimov used mostly science and rationality to make his books interesting for us all to read, also Card uses dabs of religion in his books to bring out character and content Asimov being an avowed aethiest never used it. (though he has used characters who've gained an onipotent reputation like Hari Seldon) and how can those serioes Ender/Bean possibly mix with Foundation? The hsitory in the novels I'm afraid are far too different unless Ender is somehow transported into a different parallel universe.

Frangy. Your a victim of the Mexican version of april fools day.
quote:
Mexico's counterpart of April Fool's Day is actually observed on December 28. Originally, the day was a sad remembrance of the slaughter of the innocent children by King Herod. It eventually evolved into a lighter commemoration involving pranks and trickery.

Just one thing. The site that publish the joke, is not a mexican one. The web is from Spain (Europe) and, here the 28th of December is also the day equivalent to April 1st.

I'm glad that my joke surprise you [Razz]

April Fool's Day or not, I have not even discussed such a project, nor would I consider it for a moment. Isaac Asimov is a master, and the Foundation series (which he linked with the Robot novels) is his masterwork. I would not dream of corrupting it by bending it to fit with the completely incompatible Ender Universe.

I am proud that Asimov invited me to take part in the Foundation's Friends anthology, in which he allowed a group of writers to set stories in his universes. My Foundation story, The Originist, appeared there and in my collection Maps in a Mirror; I'm proud of it. But when Asimov's heirs did approach various writers to extend and continue his Foundation novels, I was never invited to take part. I have had no contact with Asimov's heirs, period.

as horrible as it would be to combine those series, I have read the first of the three Foundation novels written by other authors after Asimov's death, as well as the Foundation short story by OSC, and I have to say they should have tried to get him to write the novels.

The Originist didn't feel like Asimov, but it did feel like a Foundation story (if that makes any sence) whereas the books (or at least the first) read like bad fanfiction.

The Foundation series should have ended where Dr. Asimov left it, the Dune series should have ended where Frank Herbert left it. I refuse to read stories where a dead author's universe is coopted simply to make his/her heirs a few bucks.

Uh-oh. Because if I'm run over by a bus tomorrow, I hope one of my kids or some other brilliantly talented writer will finish these series for me. And you know what? I don't think it's evil if a writer's heirs make a few bucks. It's not as if I'm leaving some huge estate for them. My books and my literary universes are all I have to leave them. That and whatever traumas I caused them in their childhood.

I gotta see some of these post Asimov stories myself. I've read every other book in the Foundation series. (Prelude/Forward the Foundation, Foundation, foundation and empire, Second Foundation, foundations edge, foundation and earth) But what I really want to find out is is the galaxy just going to become some huge collective thing that reminds me of a pseudo matrix. Frankly I disagree with Golan that the Galaxy needed to be completely united to face off an alien threat. if the Second Galactic Empire is even remotly what Hari Seldon wanted then the majority of the people should be willing to fight off the alien menance and defend his/her home.

Mr. Card? Would you mind finishing up those outlines for the next Ender's book and the rest of the Alvin series and the Pastwatch and Lovelock sequels and whatever else you might have ever considered writing? Maybe, you know, talk 'em over a bit with the kids?

And walk carefully. Look both ways.

Obviously, that is your right Mr. Card, and I might feel differently if I had any intellectual property worth passing on. It's possible that your successor would write an Enderverse book that would blow my mind, or shape how I look at the world, or at the very least win a Hugo or Nebula. But I wouldn't bet on it.

Ender, Bean, Jane, Human, Miro, Petra-- these people came from the unique entity that is Orson Scott Card, and I wouldn't want to judge a writer based on how well he or she wrote using your characters, plotlines, and themes. I'd rather see them come up with new characters in a different universe that captured my imagination like your works have.

But these continuation books don't hurt me, and the people behind them are well within their rights. There must be an audience for it, or they wouldn't get made. If people are entertained by these books, more power to them. I don't claim to have all the answers, I just like stating my opinion. But then, you already knew that. [Laugh]

This was just too funny. I fell off my chair.

I have actually bought all three novels (I love the foundation series) and I couldn't get past the first chapter - of all of them!

Anyway... to be honest, I also thought that the last foundation book by Asimov himself was not that very good. But at least I managed to finish it.

I wish somebody would continue the Foundation story from where it left off in Foundation and Earth. I really want to know what happened, if they ever make it to the Second Empire, and if they finally find a loophole that lets them get out of that highly irritating, new-age-y Gaia business.

I'm torn on the issue. I like the idea of more stories coming out, but I don't want them written by someone that can't match the quality or tone.

And tone is important. I read Betancourt's "Amber" trilogy that served as a prequel to Roger Zelazny's classic series, and it was... unsatisfying. The arc was fine, and his characterizations were good, but I read Zelazny as much for the rich tapestry he wove and the hints of mythology that popped up here and there. This was just... a decent fantasy trilogy.
