Will our man make good on his pledge to visit the Del Ray Dreamery this week? All I know is that when I searched this sight I came up with an awful lot of hits for frozen custard, ice cream and milkshakes!
I figured if I came clean as the propriatress of a frozen custard shop I could smoke him out.If he does come,I will capture it on the webcam and try to make it available to watch on my site. If he doesn't I will get a friend of mine who looks like him to come and pretend. The cam doesn't have very high resolution anyway.
I have mostly lurked on this sight for a few years since first reading Ender's Game with my children, then friends, nephews and employees. I have read my way through many of his books. I have put some down, too.
My first attempts at food writing came from OSC's openess with the writng process in general. While he did not make it seem easy, necessarily,it did seem somehow do-able,accessable.
He guides his readers through many spiritual and moral questions at the same time pouring forth with unending opinions on chain restaurants and sitcoms. Aristotle and Gene Shalit put in a blender.
The name I use on this site comes partly from the Alvin Maker series but also from my need to be productive almost to the pojnt of compulsiveness. I personally make every item I sell in my shop-sorbets,cake, custard, cookies, bonbons, marshmallows, cobblers. All of it done with a relentlessness that fulfills an inner need of some kind.I have always been this way but I smile now when I think about the producing and destroying, the building up in competition with the tearing down. I think of it as doing my part to keep ahead of the forces of destruction.
Find the meaning in your own life.
