Lucas is an ass that does the exact opposite of what an "artist" would do. I hope he burns in hell

StickyWicket,

You said the following.

quote:
Lucas is an ass that does the exact opposite of what an "artist" would do. I hope he burns in hell
Could you elaborate on what you mean by this? Here is OSC's definition of art from another thread on this forum.

quote:
Something fashioned by one or more humans for the pleasure, as well as convenience, of the user. Art can exist anywhere on the sliding scale between pure utility and pure entertainment. What makes it art is that it is human-made and that some element of the making was included for pleasure alone.
It seems to me, based on interviews with George Lucas that I have seen, that a significant reason for his making the Star Wars movies was for his own pleasure therefore making this art. Just because you think that other artists wouldn't make his choices doesn't make him less of an artist or Star Wars less than art. I think that your statement says considerably more about yourself than it does about Lucas.

That's kinda harsh bro don't you think? No one aside from a small group of people deserves that fate (Hitler being the clichéd example for this of course).

Yeah, GL messed up the SW universe pretty bad with these last three films (Ep III wasn't half bad, but man was it still flawed), but if it angers you that much then you need to expose yourself to some other forms of entertainment because you seem too heavily invested in Lucas' universe.

If you like SW, try Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire trilogy. Zahn can write SW. Of if you've already done that, try some other space opera books. There are other universes out there to play in you know. [Wink]

Now, what on Earth, does Sour Grapes have anything to do with The OSC?

It's possible to review a work without making personal attacks on the creator of the work. In this forum, it's mandatory. Even if Lucas made all the worst movies ever created (my belief is that he has made NONE of them), that gives no one the right to curse him like this. Please control your rhetoric. Just because Lucas doesn't sign on here doesn't mean we don't owe him normal human courtesy.

Bradbury is cool. I love Dandelion Wine because it talked about this feeling I always had when I was a kid, the sudden feeling of knowing you're alive.

You must have had a very startled childhood, to have this feeling suddenly come up. . . always.

Don't condemn someone to Hell for making a movie! I think that Revenge of the Sith would have been considered an allright movie if the older three movies had not set the bar so high.

What bugs me more than anything is the I II III IV V VI stuff. THe movies are;
1.The Phantom Menace
2.Attack of the clones
3.Revenge of the Sith
4.A New Hope
5.The Empire Strikes Back
6.Return of the Jedi
It just bugs me! [Wall Bash]

It's a really great feeling though. Best feeling ever.

this question is prolly best proposed as a thread, but I'll post it here, anyhow.

what is rhetoric? I should know, but I don't. It's just one of those words commonly trafficked-in that, despite its popularity, doesn't seem to hold a lot of water.

... in other thoughts, I was just wondering why Card's posts/attacks on his fellowman left such a bad taste in my mouth. Sure he's inflammatory. Sure, he's a savvy geopoli-agitator, but something seemed out of place. Like a lot of his angrier posts, something "missing" that he'd like to claim for his own. Just my reading. I could be wrong.
