As a member of both Ornery and Hatrack. I just wanted to thank OSC for his reply defending his columns. I still don't agree with him, but it was both intresting and enlightening to hear what he had to say.

I second that---it was good to hear it straight from OSC. However, I happen to agree with a lot of what he believes.

I generally don't defend my columns on the theory that if I wrote them well, they serve as their own defense, and if I didn't, they're not worth defending. But sometimes you've got to jump back into the fray ... still, I regard any defense of my own work by ME to be a mark of failure.

Don't be so hard on yourself! Is it failure to explain something twice, because some of the people may fail to see it the way you saw it?

And you make the compassionate choice to go back "into the fray" to continue to teach the exact same point to those few who think differently?

Even Christ had to re-explain some parables to his apostles because when he spoke them, most understood, but some couldn't relate.

Its gracious, not failure, and I appreciate it!

I guess the lines between "gracious" and "nagging" and between "nagging" and "whining" are thin indeed ...

Ouch, that's pretty harsh. [Wink]
