Ok, I got Maps in a Mirror as an early birthday present. I opened it up, and I read the Lost Boys short story first, everyone here said it was really good.

Maybe it was because I'd just be on a plane for three hours or maybe it was because I was in a car and would be for two hours, but I was confused.

Would anyone care to explain to me how Scotty and the other lost boys die? I figured out that they died because there was mention of a funeral. But I was confused. I know the lost boys had been shoved under the house by the landlord's father. But they came in and talked at Christmas. Was this just the imagination? I'm confused. Someone please help me!

make sense now? you might want to add a spoiler warning to your title (or at least in the body of your message, before you give away the ending).

That makes a sort of sense, but is that what really happened?

Yes, it is. If you read the afterword in Maps and a Mirror where he talks about it, he originally told the story to some friends as a ghost story. He felt the story would be more convincing if he used details from his own life.
