AUS just beat the UK in cricket; last over's first two shots were full-tosses, the next two got the UK several runs, and on the fifth ball the batsman was out. Number 10 came in for the final's last ball - and tied the match.

What do you think of McGrath's performance? I mean, Pontig was 'not amused' by the best bowler's full-tosses, that's not to say Lee was doing better, but what do you think - as th person with the most opinions on everything on Earth?

Forgive me, as I am very dense, but is this an attempt at a clever insult towards OSC?

It was clever until it was stated outright in the last sentence.

I'm unsure whether he was taking a poke at OSC for having opinions on everything, or at everyone else for asking OSC's opinion on everything, or maybe both. But I'm fairly sure he was insulting someone.

I think the best thing to do is for us all to assume we were the target, and fight back with a critique of his hairstyle.

But HS watches cricket. That's punishment enough.

INSULT The Card? Seriously, how could I? I was just asking for his opinion, as he is a polymath.

Just the UK team.

The way I see it, we should all just back away very slowly and forget this ever happened. Sound good?

You know, nobody is forced to read my column. So what's your point? It's entertainment. It's free. Buzz off.

As long as you continue writing it, I'm happy. I love your column. I think that JH/HS was just trying to make a joke, but he wasn't doing a good job of it. Or someone just misinterpreted what he said and it snowballed. Either way, we should still just back away slowly.

Since I likely helped aim this thread off topic I'll try to redeem myself somewhat [Wink]

I also really enjoy your column. I almost never agree with what you write, but it's still delightful and well thought out (so much so that I often disagree with you, but can't actually find fault in your logic!).

You obviously don't need me telling you this (but I will anyway!), but there are a whole lot of us who really like to read your column. It's wonderful that people who don't even live in the same country where the Rhinoceros Times is printed can read what you write.

Seriously, I love OSC's columns for the same reason that Haloed was making fun of it(or whatever he was doing). I think it's great when people can form their own opinions on any given topic, and you have to be really smart to give such well thought and convincing opinions on it. Can't wait to read what OSC has to say about War of the Worlds(assuming he reviews it).

The title of my column is obviously self-mocking. Uncle Orson? Reviews EVERYTHING? Part of the fun is that no topic is off limits. So to mock it by pointing out that it can be about weird stuff isn't remotely funny - the joke was already made BY ME.

The result is that it doesn't feel funny, it just feels a little mean. Like a guy wearing a t-shirt that says "Fat guy," and then you make fun of him by saying, "Wow, that shirt sure tells the truth!" It's not funny. The SHIRT was funny and showed the guy was willing to make fun of himself. But repeating the joke is not clever.
