Or, more accurately, in MY dreams.

Last night I had this bizarre (for me) dream. I rarely dream of action, violence, chases, etc. Well, last night I basically dreamed some kind of TV drama. I don't remember all the details at this point (of course--would it be a dream if I could retell it accurately?).

However, there was an element of me being caught in a shootout scenario, good guys vs. bad guys, and me as the innocent bystander who takes a bullet. Or almost takes a bullet. It was a grazing blow, it hurt and bruised my ribs but kept whizzing on by me. (why did it not rip through my arm then? no idea, I must have had my arm raised. It was a dream.)

So why am I posting about this on the "about OSC" forum? Well, I suddenly figured out what suggested this plotline to my mind. I was up pretty late and just before bed I read the following in the most recent "Uncle Orson" review:

quote:
For instance, one of her incantatory series is of phrases or words meaning "had a strong impact": A realization hit the character hard, even "bowled her over," but the series ends with "sideswiped her." Which is just baffling. Sideswiping is a glancing blow; surely a bathetic ending for a list that includes "bowled her over."

Guess I spent too much time pondering the meaning of "sideswiped!" I think this comes under the category of "You know you are spending too much time on Hatrack when . . ." Go figure.

I need to add, I guess I've been spending too much time watching TV/movies, too. I have no doubt that my Numb3rs addiction, with its heavily armed Feds featuring prominently in many episodes, factored into the whole dream sequence. Not to mention that Zoe from Firefly/Serenity was seriously wounded. I think she was an FBI agent in this dream. [Roll Eyes]

*gasps* A firefly fan!

Don't you love it when you can track down why your dreams are crazy in every which way?

I had a dream about having a drag queen husband and we went treasurehunting on an island with pyramids rising out of the waters around the island (most of the time we were on a boat). I never really got a chance to track that one down...

Welcome to Hatrack, Briseis! This is where I learned about Firefly. Lots of fans here.

That was quite a dream you had there!

Thank you [Smile]

I figured how stupid that would sound when I gasped, this being the site of a science fiction writer. Did you see the movie?

Didn't sound stupid at all. If you search the other forum (Books, films, etc.) you will find quite a few Firefly and Serenity threads. Yep, I saw the movie rather later than most of the other fans, because I just found out about Firefly a couple months ago and wanted to watch the whole series on DVD before I saw Serenity.

I had an actual Ender's game dream. I was Ender, and I was in an auditorium, and I was dissapointed that Petra and Bean got a 20/20 on a really hard math contest, while I only get 19/20. I think that was the night I finished Shadow Puppets. [Razz]

You poor thing, nasty nasty Bean beat you!!! [Wink]

My craziest dream ever was that my Dad chased me in a roadroller... scary...

and no. 2 was about watching the LOTR movie being made. Spielberg was the director, and the main Nazgul was taken from a lunatic asylum. that was after I first came to know they were going to make the movie [Smile]
