I don't know if anyone is keeping up with the series but I just got issue #4, and it is starting to kick in.

We have a new villain, who is crafty, subtle, and insane. Most villains lack the subtle part. They also need big guns to do their villainy. This one just needs a hair and some wits.

I think I can guess who is going to be murdered. The kid looks really pissed off at the people in his life.

I've also warmed up to this Tony Stark. Sometimes he got on my nerves, especially with the perfect snappy patter (yeah I know, it's a comic, etc.). But I really like the fact that he fiercly loves and wants to protect his dad. I believed it.

I believe it a lot more than I believed the Extremis Iron Mans' "Tony Stark". Or even the regular series. This is a real person. By showing us his family and his relationships, even in such a time-constrained fashion, it's something to latch onto.

One of my favorite lines was in issue #3 between father and son:

father: "When you're at war, have no mercy. But when you're not, show no hostility."

son: "So you want me to be a hypocrite."

father: "I want you to have the element of surprise."

I loved that last line.

We also get to see the constant development of the armor. By the end of issue #4 it resembles the suit we've all come to know and love. I hope Mr. Card sticks with this series.

He hasn't blown me away YET. But I have a feeling he will.

One more aside. This may seem trivial to some, but even the victims in the stories have a human quality to them. Usually the victim is just some extra a.k.a the red security guys from star trek. These, I felt, were people.

Got mine in the mail the other day. Had to pull myself away from WOT KoD for a few minutes.

This every other month thing seems to really make it go on and on and on.

Great issue. Gotta love where it’s heading.

look in the phone book for comic book stores in your area and call them up - even if they don't carry it (which would be very strange considering it is a marvel ultimate title) most stores can special order .

Make sure you get the back issues as well, otherwise you'll miss important parts of the story.

Be warned tho, the story starts out pretty slow (imho) because he lays out all the background in those issues (Tony Stark as a baby and as a child). But it picks up in issue 3 and 4.

Basically Tony Stark is a Wile E. Coyote-level supergenius, and the first two issues explains how that comes about. Both genetically and in the way he is raised by the elder Mr. Stark.

Issue 4 introduces Tony's nemesis. And man, that is one eevil kid. Believable too. Which is a lot different from most of the villains I've seen in comics.
