Has anyone supected that maybe Graff was just as smart as any of the Wiggin children?

I mean he did plan all three of the Wiggin children, their parents getting together, the battle schools curent form, and the colonization program.

You need to be more specific about your definition of smart. Graff was certainly intelligent, but he was trained by the military for administrative duties, they built upon what he was best at. In the same way the Wiggin children are cultivated by the IF, They’re tactical geniuses, Ender was shaped into a great military mind and Peter became involved in world politics. However as far as a juxtaposition of their separate intelligences; the Wiggins were probably smarter than Graff IQ-wise, but it’d be hard for a child to compete with decades of experience.

Actually, if you've read the short story "Mazer in Prison" it says that Mazer Rackham helped create the system behind battle school.
But i agree that he's right up there with the Wiggins. I think he's just smart in a different way. He knows how to let people who are smarter than him do their thing.

I agree with Hank.

Col. Graff would probably perform miserably in any battle school scenario, but sure excelled in creating the most exiting and meaningful battle school scenarios.

I know I've said it before, but I gotta mention once more the character of Graff that has built so steadily and interestingly throughout the Shadow series. I actually began to *like* him, after always quite disliking his interference.

I think part of the point was that the Xenocide would not just have to be brilliant and charismatic, he would also have to view the problem with moral neutrality. I don't know, it seems like "Polish Boy" was saying that growing brains are better at certain kinds of tactical performance. But the reason Card has refused to let the movie be made with an older Ender is because a teenager who could commit the xenocide really would have to be a monster of some kind. Then again, Bean apparently would have committed the Xenocide consciously. I guess I'll have to re-read that.

It (meaning Mazer in Prison) is in IGMS, the new on-line periodical OSC has put out--it alone is well worth the $2.50.

pooka what the HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!!!

And by the way I did not mean to imply that Graff would of done well in battle school as a student, but at the fact that perhaps the reason he understands Ender's jeesh and Ender himself so well was because he was once a genius child himself.
