It's possible that you have a nickle allergy... I've got that problem, and it made picking out glasses, belt buckles, and watches a major problem until I discovered...clear nail polish. Now, being a guy, I'm no master at putting nail polish on things, so unless you happen to know the secret technique to applying nail polish, whatever you put it on will get wierd lines/bumps in the coating, but it's not permanent, and it goes on the parts that you don't see anyway. Naturally, the nail polish wears off every few months and you need to reapply it, but with a coating on the metal won't bother your skin anymore.
Just thought you might be interested to know, in case you ever *do* find a wrist watch you like.

I have a pretty severe allergy myself, and I can't even do the nail polish thing. I've tried.
Plus I'm one of those people with very acidic body chemistry. I have to buy platinum needles because I'll literally dissolve steel ones in my fingers after a couple hours of use. I can't buy gold plated jewelry because I somehow dissolve the plating.
Maybe I just dissolve the nail polish too, I don't know. But I have a fairly permanent rash on my stomach from pants snaps, and this is through tucked in shirts. I can't even try on costume jewelry, 30 seconds is long enough to get the rash going.
When I got my ears pierced, using solid gold studs, it still took a year to heal. And I kept having to replace the backs cause they would dissolve a little and get loose and fall off.

Gee, that sounds even worse than me, and that is unusual. I can't wear gold because my flesh turns black, goes numb, and swells up. Haven't gone past that point, and never plan to.
(And for those of you who want to argue that no, it's not gold I'm allergic to, it's nickel - you're wrong and don't bother going there.)

Wow, you two really do have it bad...much worse than me. I got a horrible rash on my stomach about ten years ago...the doctor thought it was poison ivy, so he gave me some medicine that actually made it worse...no one knew how to get rid of it...then I started getting it on my face, and when I went to the eye doctor's for a checkup, he told me it was the nickel in my glasses, and about the nail polish solution. I still have scars on my stomach from that rash, but I haven't had a serious outbreak since then.
Oh, and then I ordered my class ring...'cept it has nickel in it, so I get a rash from wearing it, and the nail polish solution doesn't seem to help much.
Still, after hearing your two stories, I can't complain... Man, what a crap thing to be allergic too... You say "I'm allergic to nickel" and people just look at you wierd. Better than being allergic to something that can kill you if you eat it though, I don't think any of us are in danger of swallowing any metals any time soon...

Well, now I feel like a big baby. The tiny rash I get is hardly worth talking about.
But ... wait ... my rash is on ME. And therefore it is WAY more important and devastating to ME than any rash on YOU will ever be ... to ME <grin>.
