I'm kind of hoping you might choose to answer this, Mr. Card, as I don't doubt you're uniquely qualified to do so. But I recognize you're a busy guy, and you already give a lot of time to Hatrack. In a way, that- time- is the issue.

Computer games are probably my greatest vice. I have relatively little truly "free" time these days, and a good computer game can easily eat an hour or more. Time that I'd undoubtedly be better off spending on writing. Then I could say that I'd produced x number of pages, or a short story, instead of saying that I'd achieved a kind of artificial accomplishment that any number of people on the internet can also claim.

A writer of my acquaintance noted that she didn't think she would be able to get much done, if she had any sort of computer games on her own machine.

Computer games have taken significant roles in several of your novels, you have contributed your own writing to at least two games of my knowledge, and you used to write about them for Omni. I presume your acquaintance with them is fairly extensive. Do you have any suggestions for keeping a disciplined writing schedule, in the face of a form of entertainment that's often only a couple of mouse-clicks away?

I've just watched a video clip with mr. Card's interview that anyone can download from the main page of the hatrack.com. In it mr. Card confesses his former addiction to civ2 that he had for seven or eight years if I recall correctly. He also mentions a way he tried to deal with it.

Thanks, Crocobar. I'll look into that.
