hello, i was wondering if you know Gordon Card from Utah. He taught at Emery High school here in Utah until about a year ago and someone told me that you might be related to him? I was just wondering if you knew of him or if you were infact related.
Thanks! (sorry if this is a stupid question)

OSC gets many such questions. Welcome to the site, and remember that there is no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid answers.

OSC almost always responds to questions, it just takes time. He is, afterall, a busy man. But answer you he will, I am sure of it.

As a general rule, all Mormon Cards are related - it's an uncommon name. But I only know one branch of the family. A huge contingent lived in Canada; I'm descended from the plural wife Charles Ora Card took with him to Canada when founding Cardston in Alberta, but soon after the birth of my grandfather, Orson Rega Card, she came back to Utah. Most of the half-sibs stayed in Canada. So I know the descendants of my grandfather, and I also know some family members of two cousin families that lived in Utah, those of my dad's cousins Eldon and Aaron, and also Eldon's kids, because we were in the same ward.

Another cousin, Lincoln Card, lived in Utah Valley and was even principal of a junior high in the area - but I never met him, I guess because my dad and he weren't particularly close. He had a SON named Scott, somewhat younger than me - so I wasn't even the only Scott Card in the vicinity of Provo!

Anyway, it's highly likely that Gordon Card's and my genealogies link up somewhere. But I don't know where, and if I met him, it has faded in dim time.

As to a timeframe for answers: I sign on when I can. Tonight, I could. I tend to look for threads with very few posts. Often they are "waiting" for a response from me. That's why I noticed this one. And I always try to answer serious questions about things that matter. Who my family is matters <grin>.
