Just curious if the November release means a new book signing tour? Do I need to start making my vacation plans now?

Yes we can. I sure hope so.

But I doubt there'll be a tour before the next Ender book comes out maybe. Actually, I really have no idea.

Well he toured with Magic Street so maybe the publisher will push for a tour here too. Even just a small one would be good. Just as long as Ohio or Indiana or someplace near me here in Michigan is hit. I love going and listening to OSC talk. Plus it is always fun to meet all the other hatrackers that show up. I usually show up about two hours early so I can see OSC checking out the books in the store and chat with some fellow hatrackers. Just would be nice to have another signing. But again its all wishful thinking because I am sure the calendar would already have it scheduled if it was happening.

Maybe once in his life he might come near Nashville. That'd make me happy.

or oregon. that would be sweet. we do have powells bookstore in portland, which is like the biggest bookstore ever. well, probably not, but it is huge, and Mr. Card's name is on the wall in the sci-fi section, its pretty cool.

from wikipedia: Powell's City of Books is located on the edge of downtown and the Pearl District, occupying a full city block between NW 10th and 11th Avenues and Burnside and Couch Streets. It is open 365 days a year, and contains over 68,000 ft² of floor space.

I thought I remembered reading something Mr. Card wrote saying that he was done touring, that it was just too exhausting and he missed his family too much.

That said, he could have changed his mind, or I could just be totally wrong.

Yup. Every time I've seen him mention touring, it's been something like commenting on how tiring it was, how it took away from his writing, how he's going to try to convince his publisher to not make him tour, etc..

If he were going to do a book-signing tour for this book, I think we would have heard about it already.

He did say this at one time but the last signing I went to was after he said he was done touring and he said he would continue to tour as long as the publishers did it on his terms which means he travels with his wife (she is so very nice) and only for a day or two at a time flying to the spot of the signing and maybe to the next spot and then home! They also surveyed us about how we found out about the signing so they could let the publishers know how well hatrack brought out the people to the signing.

I've never been to a signing before... Even though I've been a fan for *gasp* over 12 years (man i'm getting old... ; ) ). It would be pretty cool to have my well-worn, underlined, notes-in-the-margins books signed... But if he IS done - oh well! Doesn't make me enjoy the books any less...

I would totally understand if he stopped touring.

What I would like, though, is to still have the opportunity to hear the man talk and have him sign books at places where he goes anyway. As far as I know, this never happens.

He always comes to Dayton.

Actually he stays in Cincy and does Cincy one night, Dayton the next and the Louisville. Then he goes home. I think.

He always comes to Dayton. Right? [Confused]
