I don't know how many of you are from this area or not but in Greensboro there is a local paper called the Rhino Times and I just noticed today that OSC did a review of some stuff in it. Is this where everyone finds his movie reviews and what not or are you guys reading them off his web site. I just thought it was really cool to pick up the paper and find a Guy's whose books have touched me doing a really cool review of some Halloween stuff.
If you get a chance pick up a copy of the Rhino Times and read his article and definitely read the Ender/Bean books.

Lately I've been reading Uncle Orson Reviews Everything here on the website. I used to go to the Rhino Times website to get his columns earlier than they were posted here, but then they became really inconsistent in updating their site weekly. I don't know if they're back on track now, but I don't care, as they seem to be updating the article here every Tuesday or Wednesday.
Fun fact: I wrote a letter to the editor that was published in the Rhino Times about 2 years ago, I think. It was in response to another letter, this one from a fellow Edmontonian who was encouraging the Rhino Times to fire or censor OSC for one of his recent Civilization Watch articles about homosexuality. It was fun to argue with another person from Edmonton via the Letters to the Editor section of a Greensboro newspaper.

Now that's kind of funny. Well looks like the Rhino Times is more popular than I thought. Very Cool. So its the same article just posted on this site and in the paper.

He does it for free doesn't he? Be hard to fire him. LOL And besides its an opinion / review column. Its meant to stir up conversation.

Now that I've moved to the G-boro area, I try to pick up the actual print Rhino whenever I'm in town. It's an interesting paper, to say the least.

I started in the late fall of 2001; I haven't missed a week of the review column since then, though I only write the World Watch when I have something to say that I think is worth saying (obviously, opinions vary).

Do you read that paper for anything but OSC? Because he's a big fish in what reads like a puddle. It's just a kind of funky little paper, from all I can gather, and the articles I've read through on their site (granted I am in California) were poorly written and not researched at all. That only makes sense to me if ALL of their authors write for free- not just OSC.

Heh, I'm clear across the country from NC, but I read OSC's, John Hammer's, and Scott Yost's columns online because, well, they are interesting. Yost has a humour column that often has rather interesting philosophy in it.

I read it for a lot of stuff but not all the time. I just happened to pick it up the other day and saw OSC names on the Halloween stuff and just thought it was really cool. I think the last time I actually picked it up was before I read any of his books and knew how great of an author he was, so theres that.
And I think a lot of the writers do it for free. The paper is free all around town and probably only makes money on the advertising which keeps them running.
