About a month ago I was finishing up one of the Ender series books and I quoted a line to a friend. The quote was about the nature of trust, specifically that trust is more about the giver rather than anything the receiver does or has done. Now I can't find the quote and I desperately need the original text. Can anyone help?

It's in Shadow of the Hegemon, when Bean and Theresa are talking in the Wiggin's kitchen and Bean asks her if he can trust Peter.

If I remember from CotM, Peter was under the impression that gnomicism (if I may invent the word) meant saying something that sounded deep, but was really meaningless. Theresa usually said things that seem (to me, at least) rather profound.

I think it all comes up when he and Wang Mu are going to try to change a certain person's mind... And she's supposed to be one type of philosopher but keeps waxing 'the other way'.
Here comes a potentially stupid question - but were those two types made up by Orson Scott Card or are they known elsewhere as well?
