I've been re-reading Shadow Puppets recently and I have a few questions:
1)Was it originally supposed to be called Shadow of Death (or something close to that?)
2)In the book it mentions that Bean's father and mother showed up when Bean was 11. (top of page 15 in my hardcover copy) I thought that bean was 7, or tops, 8 when they fought the war with the buggers. (4 when Carlotta finds him, 5 when he goes up to BS, and then there is a mention of him being 7 while on Eros, I beleive it is during Bean and Graff's discussion in which Graff tells Bean his real name). How does this result in Bean being 11 when he first meets Mr. and Mrs. Delphiki? I would have thought he would be 8, or at most 9!
3) How are Bean and Petra now old enough to get married!? (Much less have people agree to implant embryos into Petra...)

Well... Bean is 4 when Ender is 6, and Petra is at least 9 when Ender is not quite 7, so we can assume that Petra is at least 4 years older than Bean. Thus even if he is only.. what 15-16 ish when they are married, she's already easily an adult. Plus, by this time Bean is HUGE, and probably legally emancipated by the sheer fact of being a war hero and the leading general of the new Hegemon. One would assume little things like having babies wouldn't stand in the way.

But how did Bean get to be 15-16? I could imagine Bean and Carlotta being in hiding for a very long time, so I suppose thats not such a problem.
The thing that really gets me is my second question...
In the back of Shadow Puppets (I just finished it (: ) it says there is a timeline of EG and ES on Philotic Web, I suppose I'll go try to find that, and see if it helps.

Bean is, by dint of his abnormal growth, physically an adult by age 14 or so, and has been mentally an adult since he was 4. Not sure how pedophilia is even possible in that case.

If you really want to talk about useless contradictions, they're everywhere... most of the time they just don't matter. For instance, I noticed today when listening to Ender's Shadow that Bean assigns 15 vets and 22 launchies to Ender's army.. then adds, Wu, Crazy Tom, and Nikolai... Wu and Crazy Tom are also both vets, so that's a total of 17 right? Yet it also says that when Ender created the five toons and half toons, ever vet was either a toon leader or a second... so apparently, in Enderverse 5*2 is 17. :-) But come on, does it Really MATTER???

I just read in the bit that he wrote after the actual book, (I wouldn't really call it an epilogue... or a conclusion...) that he says he is not very good at the whole timeline thing.
I don't think I'm that great at it either, I think it stands out more when its a book you havn't written, because its easier to become "part" of the world of the book.
