I first heard of Alvin this summer when I met a fellow seventh son. I wondered if there were a lot of us out there. I personally have 6 older brothers, 4 older sisters and 1 younger brother. I'm really enoying the series and just finished book four;Alvin Jouneyman.

I...am an only only. The only child of my adoptive birthparents, and the only of either one of my birth parents.

Rivka - true! These days I probably would. My sister just had her first baby, about two weeks past her due date, so he was almost there. She was very worried about being induced or having a C-section forced upon her, but her plans worked out well and she was able to have him at home, drug-free (at 10 pounds, 10 ounces!!)
DDDaysh - Happily for me, I will never find out! I've never wanted to have children, and neither has my husband, who was the eldest of 10 kids in his family and got his share of child-rearing early on in life. I like hanging out with kids (and volunteer twice a week at a kids' educational center), but being a parent has just never appealed to me for some reason. Maybe I picked up on some of my mom's GET OUT OF ME RIGHT NOW! vibes while in the womb, I don't know. Ha ha!
