I just finished rereading Lovelock, and either my memory is playing tricks on me, or I just can't find the story I'm looking for. As I read Lovelock I kept anticipating a sequence where the ship is about to undergo transition and everyone is huddling in the little rooms underground and someone is missing (my mind put Nancy into that role). Some kids (Peter and Diana) go to look for her. Typical OSC chaos ensues with heartfelt lessons learned.

Is this an actual OSC follow-up story to Lovelock? (I want to call it Mayflower.) Or did I read this story by someone else and input the Lovelock characters onto it as I read?

Help! I want to reread the story!!

There is a sequel to Lovelock, which both are part of the Mayflower Trilogy. Unfortunately for you the sequel was published in 2027. Or in other words, there's supposed to be a sequel which some of us have been eagerly awaiting for many, many years but it has yet to be published. So you're thinking of something else, though I am curious was constitutes 'typical OSC chaos'. [Cool]

There have been no indications for years that anything is ever going to happen with this. Sorry.

No, I know there isn't a book sequel. It's just that as I read the book I kept seeing this sequence in my head that I kept expecting to appear in the book (as described above) that never happened. It left me confused, wondering if perhaps a short story had been published somewhere with that sequence, or if I was just mixing together this book with a very different non-OSC story. Based on the lack of response, I'm guessing it must be the latter.

As for "typical OSC chaos ensues ( [Big Grin] ) its where nothing goes right, sacrifices must be made, everything is fraught with danger and hard decisions, and despite the frailties of the characters, lessons of the heart and/or mind are learned about family, relations, or self, or all three.

Sounds about right. [Smile]

Nothing is coming to mind from Lovelock for the scenario you described, and to the best of my knowledge there have been no other stories written in that universe. I can't place it in any other OSC books either but that doesn't mean it's not there somewhere.
