I loved Mr. Card's review on Cowboy Bebop. It actually took me by surprise. I know he has said he enjoys Miyazaki's films, but I didn't know he had never seen Cowboy Bebop.
When I was a kid I watched anime shows such as Robotech and Voltron. In high school I watched Sailor Moon. At school one day I was speaking to a class mate and he mentioned he was an anime nut.
He is the one that suggested I watch Cowboy Bebop, and I am glad he did. To this day I think it is one of the best series that has been released. I think of the show as a sort of "gateway" anime. When you watch that series you realize just how good storytelling in anime can be. There are a lot of things you can do in anime that would simply be too difficult or expensive to do in a live action setting.
I hope Mr. Card will give others a chance in the future. There is a lot of bad anime out there, but there are also a few gems that are worth watching.
At any rate, I'm very happy Mr. Card enjoyed Cowboy Bebop and I hope he is able to find other anime series to enjoy.
I will give a slight warning that the show has deals with some very heavy topics, such as child exploitation. That being said, the topics it deals with are done in a completely non-political way. It is one of the best post apocalyptic stories in anime simply because of the moral issues it deals with.
You might also enjoy Wolf's Rain. I never found myself caring about anime characters as much as this series. I was able to convince my wife to watch it and she actually cried during a few scenes.

YAY! I'm so glad he likes Cowboy Bebop and its music. It's a great series, fantastic best music ever. There's also Evangelion, but that could knock out a few eyes in terms of how disturbing it can be and the mood whiplash of it all. Also I love Paprika, Perfect Blue and Tokyo Godfathers in terms of great Anime movies. It's really great stuff. Also, if we meet we could talk about how cool Yoko Kanno is. YAY!
