Happy Purim everyone!

"Purim is the one holiday on Jews are supposed to get drunk – to the point that they lose the ability to distinguish between Mordechai and Haman. This condition is denoted by a compound word “adloyada” meaning "until he does not know the difference." In modern Israel, a carnival - called an “adloyada” is celebrated in almost every Israeli city on Purim."

Some days it's simply a lot of fun to be Jewish. [Smile]

The rabbi offered me a chocolate hamantaschen yesterday. It was the first chocolate thing I was really conflicted about turning down in a long time.

I also read on a website that Purim is the one time it's okay for observant Jews to cross dress. Whoo hooo!

And when Purim falls on Friday (as it does this year), it makes things a bit more complicated.

Although it's not nearly as complicated here as in Yerushalayim (and Shushan, I suppose, although I don't know of any Jews still living there). Purim spans three days there this year . . .

חג שמח לכולם!

Actually, Trevor, very few men (and no women that I know) get drunk enough on Purim that the next day is a problem.

Hey Rivka, what does Choleem mean? All I could understand out of that was "happy holiday to (something)."

Kwea, Squick hasn't posted in this thread . . .

Last batch of hamentaschen are in the oven now.

No, I don't always put things off to the very last second. Why do you ask? O:)

We didn't even make any this year. [Frown] I'm not sure why not.

But it's fun to walk in the Moshava and see everyone in costume!
