I went into work this morning to find that our office had been flooded. The construction guys working in the suite to our north broke a water pipe (we're still not sure whether it was a sprinkler pipe or water main), flooding their suite. The wall between our suite and theirs is apparently not sealed (which we had suspected because of the amount of noise and airflow between the two suites), causing water to fill half our lab and start seeping into the offices. I had to race to empty out my office before my equipment got wet (which would have ruined it - quite a few thousand dollars worth). We also had to move half of the equipment our of my boss' office. He sent me and my coworker home at lunch time because we couldn't get any work done anyway. I wonder when I'll get to put my office back together. We also wonder if the landlords will do the right thing and replace the wall between the suites (since it now has some serious water damage).
I have had a nasty headache off and on for the last couple days, for which I took some medication this morning. Unfortunately, I hadn't had time to eat breakfast before leaving this morning and all that medicine on an empty stomach made it quite upset with me. It only finally stopped hurting an hour or so ago.
My Bo kitty had to go into the vet this morning. He had a small fleshy bump on his leg that had grown quite alarmingly over the last week. So, we spent several hundred dollars having it removed and analyzed, having his teeth cleaned and his shots updated. He's back and home and in pretty good spirits, but I'm not looking forward to giving him medication twice a day and keeping him from chewing/licking his stitches. I hope I can convince him to leave them alone so I don't have to put the Elizabethan collar on him. I'll be a little nervous until his appointment in 2 weeks when they'll tell us the results of the tumor analysis. He's only 2 years old and is in really good health. I just don't want there to be anything seriously wrong with him.
To make a strange day weirder, slacker got a phone call from Walgreens, saying that we had photos to be picked up. The last time we had any photos developed by them was some time last year... I stopped by on my way home to see what they were talking about. They had a double print roll of 24-36 35mm pictures that I didn't recognize. I puzzled out loud to the photo desk guy about them. "I have no idea who this woman is (in this first picture)." "I don't think we even own a 35mm camera." The photos (which had been dropped off in February ) stayed behind.
I still have the horrible headache and can't take any more medicine for it until tomorrow. My stomach is still less than thrilled with me. My office is in pieces (I hope I can find where I put the equipment I will need for tomorrow). My kitty has a big shaved patch on his leg.
I sure hope things go up from here this week....

Well, the vet said that the tumor they removed from Bo was a very unusual (it is normally found in dogs, not cats) and malignant tumor. The good thing is that they are fairly certain they did remove all of it. I'm glad we spent the extra money to have the histology done. Even though the news was scary, I'd rather know, so we can be uber-vigilant in looking for any reoccurances.
