I'm taking a short hiatus from Hatrack because...

I'm leaving for college! I'll be heading down to Arizona State on Sunday morning for orientation. There's a special orientation for female engineering students, and then there's the campus-wide freshman orientation. I'll probably be quite busy, and I'm a little nervous, but I'm also quite excited!

If there are any good threads, please keep them alive until I have internet access again! [Smile]

Awesome. I have a friend who may be going to engineering school there. She's a chem E I think, but had to take some time off and is probably going to be going to a school close to their home (she lives in Tempe.) If I find out she actually is going to school at ASU I'll try to hook you two up.

I spent a summer at ASU and I love the campus. I worked in the biology building with the green house on top. I had it figured out how to walk from building to building from my lab to the library without ever going outside for more than going from one building to the next so I had air conditioning the entire way. I also loved walking through the live rattlesnake hall in the bio building too. They also have an awesome rec center and gym. Frolic in the fountians for me!

Ok Shigosei...you were in a strange dream I had last night. (go figure!) I got onto the Max or a bus or something and there were at least 25 empty seats, but you got on and seemed excited to see me (and shamefully, I didn't recognize you at first in my dream) and asked if you could sit next to me. I was rather irritated that there were 25 other seats and you wanted to sit next to me, but after a minute, I recognized you and I got happy too! You were carrying a bunch of stuff it looked like to set up a science project or something...anyway, we talked some more and that's all I remember. Isn't that funny?!

Good luck at orientation. Have a blast and introduce yourself to EVERYONE!!! You'll love it down there from what I've heard!

[Cry]

You'll have to let us know when you're coming home to visit so we can schedule OR Hatracker things around those times, okay?

Have fun at Arizona State.

Special for female engineering students? I would be very interested to know what that is about...

Have fun! Check in with us when you get a chance.

Saxon, is that just because you wish there were more women at your work? [Wink]

Celia, here's the blurb about the program from the ASU website:
quote:
The WISE Summer Bridge Program is an innovative approach to easing the transition from high school to college for incoming female freshman students. During this four day residential program, students participate in academic reviews including MAT 270, MAT 271, PHY 121 and CHM 113 courses; ECE 194 introductory labs; MAPLE programming sessions; student panels; and evening activities geared toward students networking with WISE staff and other students.
BannaOj, my roommate is ChemE and lives in the area! Is your friend's name Katie?

Narnia and Ralphie, I hope I we can have a get-together when I come home. I'll be home starting December 19 or so and I'll probably be here until mid January. Nato's just at UO, so he should be around as well. And wow, that's an interesting dream!

Everyone, thanks for your good wishes! [Group Hug] Hatrack [Group Hug]

No, my friend formerly went to the University of Oklahoma. I also suspect she is at a sophomore or junior level in coursework, but I'm not sure.

Well, if she does end up at ASU, I'd love to meet her. I won't know many people down there when I first arrive.

I can't believe I'm actually moving out in two days. Right now it feels more like going on a long vacation.

You mean a large incandescent ball of gas in the sky? I thought that was just a myth!

Yeah, I'll be taking a lot of sunscreen. Should I have a hat as well, and if so, what kind?
