Has anyone tried the demo yet? I've got a copy of the demo (won't be in stores until 3/16) on my desktop, sitting there, taunting me in it's zipped state. Only...8 1/2 hours to go till I can go home...
The new version of UT has introduced us to more vehicles (hopefully that don't crash the server this time), better graphics (the demo's graphics are 1/2 quality due to space limitations), and they've brought back the original sniper rifle (they kept the *ick* lightning gun, tho)!!
Unfortunately, I'm stuck here at work (thankfully, it's MY friday!) with only my laptop, my pda and several DVD's worth of Simpsons seasons to help keep me distracted till it's play time.
Does anyone here have a server running, or a preferred server that we can try to meet up on?

UT 2004 is my next download, right after the Far Cry demo. All this will probably take me 2 weeks to complete, as I am on dialup, using a download manager during the night so as to not inconvenience my family by tying up the phone/computer.
I really, REALLY, need broadband.

I downloaded the Mac version the day of the release and started playing it the next day.
It's fun. The weapon balance is much better than what little I've played of 2k3, and a bunch of the old UT game types are back. ...and, of course, the vehicles. I find the jeep controls awkward, but the other vehicles are pretty nice (though maybe Halo spoiled me for jeeps, not that I thought Halo was a great game).
It'll make a good diversion when I'm not playing RPGs and RTS games.
Edit: Oh, and slacker, I've doubled my Folding@home score since buying my new machine. I'll catch you yet... ...especially now that I can fold while doing other stuff. Like playing UT2k4.

Hmm..I guess I should turn folding@home back on on fuzzywuzzy then (I've been lax about running it after reinstalling XP on it).

The original UT was our favorite LAN party game for a long time. I used to seriously own my friends with the original sniper rifle, to the point where they would camp it just to be sure I wouldn't get one. It also was the first time I actually enjoyed a game of CTF.

This is actually the first UT game that I like enough to actually purchase
The others I got second hand from my brother *That he didn't want and they came in bundles*
UT2004 is more fluid, and has all the things I liked about the quake 'feel' and has all the neat things I did like about UT.
