Sean sent me this.

http://www.kbtoys.com/genProduct.html?PID=2431939&ctid=17&ls=toys&_ts=y&_e=3f3ba&_v=3F3BA2A4pYoQiED9F6740FDA&_ts=y

My god. Without even going into how ****ed up the "war" with Iraq was, or the reasons behind it, or the faked-herione deal with Lynch, or how Bush forged evidence and lied, repeatedly, to the country so thousands of innocent people could die and he could take their oil...

They chose THIS to make a propaganda piece of? His photo op on the aircraft carrier? The one they had that was so far offshore that a helicopter couldn't reach it and Bush had to take a jet -- then, once he got there, they had to turn the ship in order to give Bush a coastline-free photo?

I'm disgusted. Welcome to the US(SR).

>> Due to extremely high demand, we will ship your Elite Force Aviator: George W. Bush - U.S. President and Naval Aviator 12" Action Figure based on the date you placed your pre-order. <<

Now here's the question -- is the demand high because Bush-haters are buying it in droves? Or because Bush-lovers are buying it in droves? Or both?

Do you really think people who hate Bush enough to want to do terrible things to doll would be willing to shell out 40 bucks to do so?

I doubt "volume" is the problem. Either they limited the quantity, or they are just saying that shipping could be delayed to make it seem like "everybody" wants it. [Roll Eyes]

In 20 years, that'll probably sell real good on Ebay, or the future's equivalent of Ebay...

If they're going to make something like this, they need to wait twenty years and sell it in "Parade" magazine.

I thought it was a joke the first time I saw it on the net. Apparently its not. Um, its extremely disgusting for the American president to allow an action figure of himself made. But then, doesn't he get money from it somehow? That parasite.........

What is wrong with making money off an action figure of yourself? If he is ok with it, I really do not see the problem.

It could be worse. They could be making a figure of that brave guy who said "Let's roll." You know someone somewhere thought about it.

Danzig, he shouldn't be abusing the Presidency from profiting from it. He is there to be respected and a mature image and representative of America to the world and to the nation. How vain does he look having these action figures made? He's prostituting the Presidency.

How is profiting from the Presidency abusing it? They pay him a salary already, so it is not as if it was intended to be a position where you cannot profit. This is very tacky, yes, but who cares? America's image is going to be bad whether or not these figures are sold. It is really not worth worrying about.

"They pay him a salary already, so it is not as if it was intended to be a position where you cannot profit."

Personally, I think it's a shame that Clinton isn't yet hawking cigars, and no one from Memorex tried to get Reagan's endorsement.

Does Bush really get money from this thing, or was that just a suggestion?

quote:
Aibel said advance orders for the Bush doll are coming in at a record clip, though Blue Box has done no publicity or advertising yet. Blue Box Toys did not request permission from the White House for use of Bush's likeness, and a White House spokeswoman had no comment yesterday.

The company recommends that only those 14 and older use the Bush doll, which it says is an "adult collectible item" and emphatically not a toy. It may, in fact, pose a choking hazard for the president's Democratic opponents.

You know, since the President is taking a month off, shouldn't we be docking his pay?

I seriously doubt Bush is getting money from this. On the other hand, I believe they're legally required to get his permission to manufacture the doll.

Given the potential for political fallout, he probably requested that they donate a certain portion of the profits to some organization of his choice in exchange for the rights to his likeness.

[ROFL] Thanks for the best laugh I've had today! Wow...I can't believe Bush would actually allow an action figure to be made. Then again, is this really any different from politicians appearing on SNL?

Note: You know, Bush has very distinctive eyebrows. I think the toymakers did a good job capturing that vaguely worried look he always has. [Big Grin]
