does anyone know where I could get a copy of the book? I am interested in what our friend Orson, as well as many posters (?) on this site believe. I have had trouble finding a copy, and have tried all major book retail stores in my area.

What book of Abraham are you talking about?

There is a book in the LDS cannon called the The Book of Abraham, which is included in the Pearl of Great Price. Is there another work, by the same title, that you referring to?

The book of Abraham is an annex to the Bible that was added by Joseph Smith, who created the Mormon religion. It is also called the book of Mormon

Melchoir - The Book of Mormon is a different book from the Book of Abraham. The Book of Mormon deals exclusively with people led to/in the Americas. The Pearl of Great Price (which includes the Book of Abraham) is another book entirely. Neither of the two books are addendums or additions to the Bible. They are considered to be separate texts that, like the Bible, deal with God and Christ's interactions with human beings. [Smile]

As for reading the Book of Abraham, you can read it at the link I gave you above. If you'd like a hard copy, I'm sure we can get you one. [Smile]

The Pearl of Great Price?

hmmm...

I saw a movie a while back, with Mimi Rogers in it about the end of the world... it seemed a fairly standard Fundamentalist Christian take, but it focused on "the Pearl" quite a bit. I was guessing this to be a reference to the parable in the gospels, but now I'm wondering.

Do any of you know the movie I'm thinking of and if it is heavily Mormon influenced?

For someone who is as into learning about and comparing Religions as I am, I'm woefully ignorant of Mormon Theology.
