You made a good case for Netflix, and I batted the idea around a bit. Finally, I sold the hubby on it.
He and I are both addicted to the first season of 24, now. I told him we could use it like cable, and watch some tv shows that are supposed to be good without having to put up with all the crap that comes with cable, or buy a whole season sight unseen.
Then there's the movies, too.
So, Netflix subscribers... What's in your queue?
Reccommend anything? I'll reccommend Dog Soldiers . Not the best FX, but still a truly scary and witty romp (despite the one 'time of the month' joke which was just too easy, as it applies to Werewoves). A squad of soldiers on a routine exercise in the wilds of Scotland runs into some werewolves. Medical uses for Superglue! Not for people bothered by heavy accents or fake viscera.

Tick! you don't have to take anything back. just slip it into a mailbox. you do send out mail right?
and you can keep the movie indefinitely. technically it's 90 days, but i had a movie for more once and they never even said anything.

Well, I just noticed their "gay" movies! Heathens, I say. They actually have a "gay" category?!? Surely, they will burn in hell!
Olivet, let us know what you think of their delivery time. I spend way too much for cable, but I think my husband wouldn't like to only watch one movie every night or so. And with the three at a time limit, and a one to three day turnaround on movies, I wonder how many one could actually rent in a week.

We figured out Netflix was good for us, because we are losers who get late fees EVERY TIME we rent a movie. We definitely make out better with Netflix.
We have been watching The Sopranos. I fell in lust with Tony Sporano until the follwing two comments were made:
1. My mother-in-law said Tony S. looks like my husband's father.
2. My hsband pointed out that Tony looks like MY father.
That ended that crush, but quick.

Kayla, it depends on where you live and where the closest distribution center is. I'm in north jersey and there's one in new york.
it usually takes one to two days for a movie to return to them when i mail it out. Then my next movie ships out that day. They usually give me a two day delivery date. But 90% of the time i get the movie the next day.
As long as you don't send all 3 movies back at once each time, you'll be able to keep a good cycle going.

I'm definitely getting netflix in a few months. Much cheaper than cable that includes anywhere near the same movie selection, and much more convenient.

Tick, the thing is, if you've seen the three movies they sent you, then they don't send you the others until you slip it in the sleeve and put it in the mailbox. It's a double-mailer thing. Easy. Slicker than owl{droppings}. Seriously.
Kayla- There's a distribution center in Duluth. I signed up Wednesday night, so it was Thurday before the first three shipped. The email said they were expected to arrive on Saturday. All three were in my box on Friday, though. Friday night we watched one, and it was in the mail Saturday. They got it Sunday and the next one on the list shipped today (eta Wednesday). I'll let you know.

I subscribed to Netflix for a while but decided to cancel it because I received a damaged DVD that was unwatchable and they didn't credit me an extra DVD. Also, my local library has DVD's and VHS's that I can take out for a week at no cost. I've seen some incredible movies and they cost me bubkas.

Not movies... but... Wallace & Gromit Farscape (this is a Sci-Fi TV show that I'm absolutely adicted to. There are 4 seasons, the third is currently being recorded to DVD for Region 1. As there is an overriding arc to the series, I recommend that anyone who is interested start at the beginning.)

And yet...we have troubles getting movies back when they COST ME MONEY every day they are out! I could probably do it, but I already get a good deal on digital cable with my intarw3b access, so I'll stick with that.
