Now that katharina's thread has paid off, I thought a serious dobie could be done here. Following, an excerpt from my short story Extreme Point of Reference, which, due to it's rather gratuitous drug use and profanity, will likely never see print.

I have edited this to a high degree, so I hope no one is too offended by it.

The wind whipped over the ridge, coursing down through Soda Canyon, gathering moisture from the foliage below. Sheets of cloud billowed out over the valley, undulating in great waves of crystalline finery. Out on The Trail, someone was riding a clutch, but the muted undertones were barely perceptible, merely a series of drones, reverberating off the hills, adding to the sonic presence of the wind. Stag's Leap isn't remote, but on a clear, chill autumn evening, it's usually deserted.

"Zer hammerschlammer ist nicht eine bulcharnoghan! Das Schpeil ist uber ze Hoff mach, UNT!" Mark paused in hilarious repose, "Das Shrekmachine ist der liebenmier!" You had to admit, he was indeed the master of gibberdeutshe. In the dim light his oily baseball cap might even be mistaken for an SS cap. He paced back and forth stiffly, using a convenient stick as a riding crop.

"Her Ollbermann," interjected Ken, "das schpeil icht becuum gruusenfartz?"

Mark took this in with the patience of a superior, and explained kindly: "Gruusenfartz unt der schuuler cruugfegdullen," then his voice became inspired. "Vo ist der schepilen? Der schpiel icht in Das Schrekmachine!" He now scowled fiercly "Das speilen lieben hoff ze aufzen acht uber untzee, UNT!" He paused. "Das Schrekmachine ist der UBERKREIGEN!" These last shouted in machine-gun-like triumph.

"Hey, do you guys want any of this?" Bob asked wearily. The darkness nearly conceled the glowing red eyes, the heavy-lidded apparition of Stonedity.

"Keep it down, there's houses right down there," warned Jack. "Hey, listen...."

They fell silent as they all heard the subsonic beat of a helecopter, heading up towards the lake. Ken and Jack shared a knowing glance.

"What did you do up there, let off a small nuclear device?" Bob asked incredulously. Jack handed him the pipe.

"All will be revealed in the fullness of time," he gloated.

"Unt der halfschlagd?" Ken inquired of Mark, unable to resist setting him off again.

"Vell..." began Mark patiently, "der halfschlagd icht int drecchen schpeilen eine drofftschpodt."

The banners of cloud streamed out over the valley.

[Big Grin] Any other speakers of Gibberdeutsche out there? [Big Grin]

My mom went to college in Switzerland, and the esoteric language of choice in her social circle was German Pig Latin. Any relation?

No. It's just a phonetically sounded gibberish made to produce the effect of a foreign language.

Feel free to invent any others. Gibberfrancais? Gibberespanol?
