...for viewing, anyway. saxon75 has been assiduously archiving the game as it progress; the archive can be viewed here.
I figured I'd post it so that folks who are not playing in either Slash's or Tom's RPG and who have no idea how the game flows have an example to go by. Maybe it'll help a third RPG get started. Having examples is always good.
A key, for those who are interested:
Ty = Slash = the DM Mike = saxon75 = Garyth (fighter) Karl = KarlEd = Farron (diviner) Matt = FlyingCow = Rennik (ranger) Dan = Bob the Lawyer = Cadfael (priest) Scott = Scott R = Mission (monk) Raja = twinky = Sa'id (necromancer)
I'm torn about character histories. I generally don't show my character's history to the other players, and just let it come out over the course of the game. But there's also something to be said for showing the other players your writing, especially if the history is something you're proud of. Anyway, histories aren't in the archive.

There are, of course, I few E-mails missing here and there. But I'm sure people will get the general sense of what's going on.

I second Human's post. Also, is this D&D (2nd ed)? Cause I have a lvl3 ranger I'd like to use, but no one to play with.

I'm pretty sure he hasn't gotten back to me because I haven't showed active interest in a while, but I have time to kill now.

Just in case you guys are wondering what happened to me today, I just got home from work and both my Hotmail and school accounts seem to be down. None of you are on AIM right now either, so I guess I have to resort to this to let you know that I'm still around.

I can't believe how much I'm enjoying reading the archive; it's been *way* too long since I've had a chance to play a good game of AD&D.
How often are you updating the archive, Mike? I've finished what's there, and can't wait to see what comes next.

I know exactly what you mean, Noemon, I found myself missing roleplaying as well, which is why I jumped at the chance to join this one.
I really think there's enough interest here to get a third game going, it's just a matter of finding a DM. I'd offer to do it, but I don't know the 3rd edition rules well enough, and I'm about to start my last year of university.

To play 3rd by email you'd need to learn the relevant rules for the class you take. I didn't find it terribly difficult. The DM handles all of the rolling and whatnot, so you don't have to know any of that stuff.
Edit: You know that you can get the 3rd (and 3.5) rules for free, right?

Trust me, you barely have to know the rules at all if you have a good and patient DM. I've lucked out with both Tom and Ty. I didn't know anything about D&D beyond the basic concepts when I started.

I've been lurking in on TomD's group for a while now, and I can tell you...I don't know jack about D&D, but I would be able to keep up, no problem, was I playing.

2nd Edition is all I really know well. I'd love to have an opportunity to play a psionicist/monk character, using the more fleshed out 2nd edition psionicist class. Did they carry that class through to the 3rd edition?

I'm updating the archives as I get a chance, usually when I have some downtime at work. I have about two days backlogged right now. So far I've noticed a tendency of doing a couple of days at a time. Unfortunately, I don't have a very automated way of doing the archiving right now, which is why they don't go up more often.

I am tempted to DM a game in a campaign setting I've been working on for a while... but I won't know how much time I have until school starts and I see what my workload will be like. So, while I'd love to do it, don't expect me to be able to until at least mid-October, probably November. If at all.

Hey Bok, I'd gladly do a White Wolf Werewolf game, or any of the games in the Dark Ages setting... but again, in the future.
(Shameless plug: go out and buy Dark Ages Werewolf! and Dark Ages Fae when it comes out next year! I've written for both of those!)

When I get to school I'm thinking about starting a game of Nobilis.
For those unfamiliar with Nobilis, the basic (very very basic) concept is that you are a demigod that represents some aspect of reality (toes, doors, fire, death, writing, respect, the in-between, etc...) and you are charged with a number of important tasks by your boss, a real god. Usually these involve things like preventing Creation from being un-Created, being a proper and dignified representitive of your particular aspect of reality, keeping your Chancel (home base) in order, and whatever else happens to come up.
Nobilis was one of the two winners of this years Diana Jones gaming award for excellence in the gaming industry. Currently Nobilis is published by Guardians of Order, previously published by Hogshead Publishing. The book is big and white. If you ever see it (I've seen it occasionally at Borders), you'll know it.
Anyway, the system is diceless and the system is simple, so it lends itself well to being played online. I'm working on coding an archiving website that will be installed sometime after I get to school on Friday.
If anyone is interested, drop me a line at nhusher@uvm.edu.
