The chat room on this site, I mean. I just realized that there is a chatroom here, but going on it I realized that no one is there. Does really go on there? I was just wondering to see if I would be wasting my time completely if I just sat in the chat room waiting for someone to talk to me....

That's what Boon said, but is there a certain place one can connect to this AIM chat, or does one have to be invited?

Parachat is just better for a number of reasons.
Newbies pop into parachat. Ones that haven't posted to the forums. People who just like OSC so they came here. Newbie fishing is a good sport. Quite often I've caught some keepers. Who all have I caught? I can't remember them. Irami was one and also CalvinMaker. I can't think who else. Keepers, though, I think you'll agree. It's quite a dangerous sport as well, I found out. Just to warn people, I feel I must say that.
There are interesting things to be learned about identity in parachat. I choose a new name every night I go in there. I'm interested in whether there is such a thing as me, and if so, what on earth me could consist of. What's very odd is no matter how different the names I choose, no matter how hidden I wish to be, people always know me. What is it that they are perceiving? What gives me away? I really still have no idea. So this is a fun thing to explore and test. Also I'm terrible at the identity game myself. I never can guess people.
One night Tresopax and I had a very interesting conversation that we never would have had, had we known who each other were to begin with. In recognizing people, we always limit them in our minds. Our minds can't hold the depth and complexity and reality that is another person, even for our closest friends let alone our casual acquaintences. I like the parachat because it frees us from our preconceptions about each other's identities. Or it can.
Also the decor is just nicer in there. Human and I redecorated the whole place once, and it's super cool. Sort of like Dr. Who's tardis on the inside. There are rooms and rooms in there. And the confused couch in parachat is the ORIGINAL confused couch, a chesterfield sofa, of course, just like the one that appeared on the pitch at Lord's cricket grounds, and much softer and more comfortable than the confused couch in AIM chat.

I was just there, but someone named "lyll" (or something like that) didn't seem too chatty. So I left. Plus it's getting late in my neck of the woods.

See now, a kick in the shins != a knee to the groin. That's like punching someone in the face who looked at you funny. Being punched in the face hurts so much more than being looked at funny that it's really not comparable.
Basicially what I'm saying is I'm taking my ball and going home. And my mommy is going to tell your mommy how mean you were. nya!

I was on the hatrack chat last night, but I think I'm still w/ ak. It's just easier to go to, and it seems less formidable...I mean, it's connected to the site. So, no matter what you guys say, I still like parachat better.
Oh, and ak, that couch is REALLY comfy

Yeah, we've gotten it nicely broken in, I think. Always plenty of confusion to encourage that.

It's the fault of the Gelatinous Mass. Who could help but succumb to such, er, compelling attractions?

I think the answer to this question depends highly on whether you mean boxers or briefs. Or boxer briefs, I suppose.

Evie,
Sorry aboutlast night. I had to shut off the computer in a hurry and just didn't have time to say goodbye. I'm glad you found your way though.

It's okay Boon. Thanks anyways. I kinda figured it out. But apparently parachat has had some new interest. I mean, with that couch and everything, how could it not!

Back in June and July, I tried parachat several times. There was never anyone there but me!
Now that there's interest in it again, I tried to get in -- and I can't. Something is wrong with my Java, apparently, and I get a blank gray box where parachat should be. And a weird Java error messge when I mouse over just the right spot (which makes it impossible to read properly, let alone copy).
