I'm ignorant, but why does it seem like every time trickle down economics is used the things that are cut are the library's funds, so I can't get a job there shelving books, museums and certain social programs? Why is this? I tried to call up a program about finding a way to get transportation help to jobs and found out it's closed due to budget cuts.
Am I alone in getting bothered by this?

It's because economists hate you, personally, and have decided that you need to bear the brunt of the economic recovery. It had to be somebody, and might as well have been somebody they loathed.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Trickle down economics is a theory with no sound theoretical backing, that is supported by no reputable economists. It was formulated by journalists and is not a particularly worthy theory.

This is not to say it doesn't get some things right, but this is due to the shotgun effect: shoot off scatter shot enough times and you'll hit something. Most things trickle down economics gets quit wrong.

What I find incredibly disgusting is how libraries are always promoting literacy -- the reprobates.

Zal, the very thought makes me wake up in a cold sweat. I am only comforted by the cuts in public transportation. Thank heavens no one can get there.

My library not only promotes literacy, it had a Harry Potter party! How dare a public institution teach Satanism to our vulnerable little children, who can't separate fact from fantasy?

Trickle Down economics sends/returns money to the rich.

The rich BUY books with it.
They don't need libraries so they don't send money to libraries.

The result is that libraries have no money.

Go to the library and steal the books, then sell them to rich folks.

Or get a job with some rich dude managing their personal library.

Most libraries, I think, get most of their money from local municiple funds. So complain to your city council. They do, I think, get federal grants, but it's all managed at the local level.

I could be wrong about that, but I think that's how it works.
