I'm trying to boycott the other popularity threads around here today, so I'll post in yours. I feel like I'm running for student council in high school again. *sigh* I thought I could escape it, but I guess not.

Hi Icarus, how are you? I almost had a heart attack when I heard the news about the accident at Disneyland, but by the time I logged on Mama Squirrel had already posted to say you and Cor were safe.
I might not say it often enough, but I'd miss you horribly if you disappeared.

Icarus, what happened?! I didn't even hear about it! What thread is it in? (I'm glad you and Cor are ok too.)

Oops, sorry I ignored the thread. I never could get that link to work and I just stayed away because I figured whatever was going on in there, I wouldn't understand anyway.

Pat, you are mistaken. This is not a popularity thread. This is, simultaneously, a "soothe Icky's self-pity thread" and a "grumble about popularity threads thread."
Kind of a dance just for wallflowers. So all you cool people, go away!

Jose, dude, what's the matter? Didn't you just have dinner with a bunch of Hatrackers at The Happiest and Most Expensive Place On Earth?

Hey Ryuko, I saw that you posted something about a dorm room. Are you still in the Twin Cities? What school?

(Doesn't know) The only stores I've looked at in the area are the comic stores. The Source Rocks. I utterly <3 that place.

Did you know that a blue moon refers to a phenomenon that occurs once every two to three years which is an extra full moon in a single month.

A lot of stuff in my life (unrelated to Hatrack) has been going pretty badly lately, and I guess some of my general anxiety creeped out last night. Eventually, I'll get around to starting a thread about the real problem, but I'm not quite ready to yet. Suffice it to say that I've been feeling like a pretty incompetent human being lately, and that was my pathetic way of seeking afffirmation.

You're not incompetent, you dweeb, and everybody loves you. You're not still sore about that $500K question, are you?

He's a geek, not a dweeb, thank you very much.
Dude, I don't think the SoCal crew would have come out to meet an incompetent human being, and if we did, we wouldn't have had such a good time.

Saxon, a geek is topic-specific. While he certainly is a geek (Disney, for example), he has also earned the all-encompassing title of dweeb.
I admit, part of the confusion is that "geek," with no topic included, has come to mean whichever "geek" topic is currently in the top spot on the list of the people in any given situation or conversation. Thus, I attempt to point these things out to people as ignorant as you, in order that such confusion may eventually abate.
