I and a few others owe you all an apology. With Morbo's blessing, we created a few new screen names and started bashing Morbo, all leading up to Morbo's 2000 landmark post. We were all laughing the entire time. Well, we had a little too much fun, and some people we meant to amuse ended up being annoyed and offended. For that we are truly sorry.

I'm Ashley, aka sarcasticmuppet, mormo, and teppum citsacras. I genuinely did not want to cause any trouble. I am very sorry.

Well it could be entertaining if they stopped attacking Morbo and started making science jokes.

Example:

A math major went with a few friends to the track for a fun day of gambling. His friends lost over and over, but were happy enough with the experience. Until they saw the mathematician carrying a huge wad of bills he’d just won. They all clambered around demanding to know his secret. “It’s not that complicated.” He replied. “I just developed a simple formula to determine which horse would win.” His friends of course, asked what that formula was. “Well” he said “I started on the assumption that all the horses are cubes.”

Yes, it was a joke that quickly got out of hand. Someone told me that Tresopax=Xaposert, and I pretended to be too stupid to notice, even after Tres said as much. Then I got several people including sarcasticmuppet and Rappin' Ronnie Reagan to reverse their screenames and make fun of Me=Morbo=Obrom, and indirectly Tres/xaposert, while I bragged about how funny and perceptive I was.

We had a great time and thought it was very funny---until folks started getting upset on my behalf. None of us wanted that, so we decided to come clean. After minutes of frantic panicking in "HR plotters anonyomous", our conspiracy's chatroom.

You'd think I learned my lesson with the "Morbo Unmasked!!" meltdown, but now I had to drag ashley , sarah and others into it. I am sorry, girls ( and one guy.)
And we sincerely apologize to anybody who was offended or was upset. 95% of the blame belongs to me, though it did get out of hand and I couldn't keep up.

Anyway, at least Icarus=Suraci thought it was funny---we never told him, he just figured part of the joke out. And thanks to Nick, Hobbes and anyone else who offered sympathy while we were deceiving them. I appreciated that, but it was one reason we decided to call it off.

It didn't seem to me to clog up the boards all that much. Only a few posts leaked outside a couple threads, and it was clear that they were just current posters playing (considering pretty much all the names were reverses of existing names and the "new" posters were making inside jokes). And considering how slow hatrack was that day, it didn't accelerate the descent of other threads any, really.

I'm unconvinced that funny stuff happens in chat, except perhaps from the point of view of the people whose funny has been impaired by being in a chatroom in the first place. [Razz]

This shakey PC gets worse every day. I'm getting ready for a teardown to get rid of any possible spyware that may have been installed by the owner. AIM is the lockup that I refer too. This horrid machine will lock up on its own, but AIM accellerates the problem. Sorry my only contact is this lame PC. [Dont Know]

eslaine: start->run. Type msconfig , click ok. Click on the startup tab across the top. Uncheck everything but system tray and scan registry (if you see those). Click apply. Click ok. Restart like it tells you to.

Also, send me a list of everything in your add/remove programs list and I'll tell you what (and how, if necessary) you should uninstall.

After finding out how badly spyware/adware/malware has messed up the machines of many of the customers who call me for tech support, I take delicious pleasure in ripping out its digital guts.

I thought the joke was a bit obvious. Especially with all the backwards names. And the fact that Morbo didn't seems genuinely upset. And that someone claimed to be friends with cedrios. [Smile]

I started pretending to be upset and confused towards the end. Soon after it seemed pointless so we pulled the plug.

yeah, we actually kept it going a lot longer than Morbo wanted to. I really wanted a deathmatch thread a la Pat/Donny/John Lennon, but alas.

Ashley, Sarah, Rayann, and the co-defendant who will remain nameless to protect the guilty, let me repeat some advice I gave to Thor months ago on his dieting thread: "Don't beat yourself up about the nuts!"

I was telling him not to worry so much about eating nuts, but it came out wrong [Blushing]

The times when I've cracked people up here at Hatrack the most have usually been the times I wasn't even trying for laughs. All 5 or 6 of us thought that it would be funny, so we did it. Some appreciated the joke, some were annoyed, most probably didn't really care one way or the other.

Don't worry, be happy! [Kiss] [Big Grin] [ROFL]
