So, a couple months ago, I picked up an Yngwie Malmsteen album. THe man plays incredible guitar. I lent it to my roommate, he thought the same thing.
Today, roomie mentions he heard that malmsteen was touring.
I look it up.
Yup, Malmsteen is touring with Steve Vai and Joe Satriani. They are playing near me in 2 1/2 weeks. I got tickets...
Good grief. Three guitar GIANTS, live, without vocals. I'm stoked

This discussion was going on over at sakeriver here about the top 10 guitarists...twas I that mentioned Joe Satriani and it made me feel better that you mentioned it too. It's my understanding that he's amazing. ( I haven't heard all of those other guys listed, but there can't be very many people that play that much better than he does! )

That list is ridiculously incomplete without John Petrucci; who, incidently, was one of the original members of "G3"... Joe Satch, Steve Vai, and John Petrucci.
Yngwie Malmsteen is also quite good.

My own top ten would probably be, in no order Malmsteen Vai Satriani Page Stevie Ray Vaughan Petrucci Clapton Van Halen Santana Beck
I'm not sure how teh Edge made it onto that list on the other site... Or some of those other guys, actually.

You're all wrong because you are missing Luca Turilli. Just because European Epic Metal isn't popular right now doesn't mean he isn't one of the greatest alive.
