Okay. So my car had a power steering leak and I had to drop it to get fixed (under warranty). Dealership gave me a free rental.

Effing PT cruiser. Hate it. Drives like a minivan, corners even worse, the interior apparently wasn't designed by a person who routinely drives a car. The shift knob is round with the button to shift on top. The window buttons are on the DASH. The armrests are an inch wide and set too far back. The cupholders are in useless places. You can't see well to back up.

[Mad]

So I'm already ticked about that.

Am driving through parking lot to get my lunch at Subway. Lady steps into parking lot roadway. I stop twenty feet from her to let her cross.

She glares at me.

[Confused]

I raise my eyebrow.

She continued to glare. I'm confused. I came nowhere near hitting her or any cars or any other pedestrians. Why am I getting glared at?

I park. Get out. She's WAITING FOR ME.

wtf?

She says, "Do you know you're in a parking lot?!"

I think, Well, I just PARKED my car.

She doesn't let me reply. Just launches right into "You SHOULD NOT be driving that fast in a parking lot." Then flees into the store.

[Confused]

I was driving between 5-7 mph. Any slower and I wouldn't be moving. I stopped 20 feet from her.

What happened to look both ways before you cross the street?

Man. I should've followed her in and asked.

She apparently hasn't seen my husband drive in a parking lot. I'm pretty sure he thinks that parking lots have a 50mph speed limit. [Eek!]

You know what I love?

Pedestrians who actually slow down when they see that you're waiting for them to cross the street or parking lot. I'm not saying they should break into a panicked run, but something above a leisurely amble would be nice.

If she had been walking back to her car down the center of the row, you would have been within your rights to mow her down.

Pedestrians in parking lots can be annoying, as can people driving in them. Sounds to me like this lady just had something shoved someplace where it didn't belong. I guess I'm evil for walking through parking lots and forcing people to stop, though.

I was slowly backing out of a parking space a week or so ago. I was going slowly because I could not see to my right (too many SUVs with dark tinting). I drive a small pickup (so it's not like I'm invisable). When I get almost out of the spot (and in a position where I can actually almost see too), a girl in a little car comes flying up the lane. She slams on her brakes and starts waving her hands at me. I get annoyed, slam my truck back into 1st and fly back into my space (screeching my tires for her). I just don't get why people don't seem to understand that in parking lots, where people are backing out of spaces, the people driving down the lanes can see the people backing out much soon than a person backing out can see a person driving down the lanes. Why do they drive insanely fast down the lanes and get all annoyed that someone backing out can't see them?

One of my favorite references to the faddish PT Cruiser is embedded in this 1040-form parody.

[ROFL]

As for this thread: my wife and I realized our marriage was nearly over when we noticed all we ever talked about was traffic incidents. Then again, we do live in Boston, which is one huge traffic incident.

You know what I love? Walking down the aisle that my car is not parked in, and then cutting through into the aisle in which I am parked!
