Recap of First Season:

Leonide kept the everybody guessing in Round One. The “guess from” list and the point system had to be introduced to keep the game moving. Eventually, however, Caleb was victorious.

Round Two went much faster, due either to Belle’s brilliant guessing or :Locke’s distinctive style.

In Round Three the tapping of Twinky’s very masculine dress shoes confused the crowd. Ophelia finally won the round, but not without some major hinting by the moderator.

Belle continued her sweep of the even numbered rounds by correctly identifying the work of jeniwren in Round Four.

jeniwren then picked up ten points of her own by guessing Caleb in Round Five and fugu13 in Round Six.

Christy rather quickly guessed dkw in Round Seven.

In Round Eight Ophelia correctly identified T_Smith as the writer of the Stinky Gnome Shrine.

mackillian kept Round Nine short by guessing Belle.

Round Ten went a little longer, but eventually Nick recognized the work of Leto. (Or just guessed lucky.)

Round Eleven was the shortest round to date, with fugu guessing Irami only 40 minutes after the excerpt was posted.

Ophelia resumed her winning streak by correctly identifying the writer of a very cute and fluffy furred Round Twelve character as Human.

Sopwith made an impressive first appearance in the game, correctly guessing mackillian as the author of Round Thirteen

Round Fourteen was hijacked by the Hatrack editors' mafia, but eventually sarcasticmuppet identified littlemissattitude, perhaps because of some hidden affinity between women who choose compound screen names with no spaces.

Round Fifteen was ended by eslaine’s correct choice of Morbo.

enjeeo gave herself away in Round Sixteen with her Aussie spelling and phrasing. The clue was first noticed by Kayla, but Saxon75 put the information to good use and won the round.

sarcasticmuppet correctly identified Annie as the author of Round Seventeen, which resulted in the mouthy muppet rising to one point shy of first place.

Round Eighteen was played brilliantly by author advice for robots, but Saxon75 eventually penetrated the sneaky subterfuge and took the points.

Round Nineteen took off like a freight train. Unfortunately, due to moderator error, it was a freight train rushing down the wrong track. T_Smith saved the day by preparing a list of posters not on the “guess from” list who fit his correct analysis of the author, and Ryuko used this list to correctly guess Avaradu

In Round Twenty Dan Raven proved that he had what his main character lacked by the blatant flattery he gave his own writing. By grueling process of elimination, he was eventually caught out by Saxon75.

Noemon correctly identified the sneaky gender-bending, tea-drinking, spook-the-moderator-so-she-jumps-at-shadows-especially-when-a-cow-moos-in-the-backyard Tom Davidson in round Twenty-One.

Saxon75’s spreadsheet saved the day in Round Twenty-Two. After eliminating every other female on the guess from list, he won the round by guessing Teshi.

Round Twenty-Three was another speedy round, with Ryuko correctly identifying author sarcasticmuppet.

Ryuko’s writing was then identified by Rivka in Round Twenty-Four.

In Round Twenty-Five Celia tracked down Feyd Baron, writing out of character and thus keeping the world guessing for most of two pages.

Noemon scored his second win by guessing Saxon75 in Round Twenty-Six.

Noemon’s own piece was then correctly guessed by Celia in Round Twenty-Seven.

Round Twenty-Eight broke the record for shortest round, with sarcasticmuppet guessing kwsni only eight minutes after the thread was posted.

Round Twenty-Nine went a little longer before eslaine correctly identified Nick as the author.

And eslaine wrapped up the season by guessing Celia60 as the author of a sweet, poignant, lost kitten story in Round Thirty, although I think he was being sarcastic. [Laugh] eslaine

Thank you for your time and effort, Dana. I appreciate it. I had fun even though I never guessed right. And, because you put my name in the "guess from" lists, I actually wrote some fiction for the first time in years.

Here's to dkw! [Hat]

There's going to be a second season, right? I didn't post any guesses this season because I felt I was too new to hatrack and I didn't have the slightest clue who anyone was. I still don't think I could pick out anyone's writing style, but at least now I know some genders and relative ages.

Julie, Second season thread.

Note dkw's complicated advice to confuse guessers:
quote:
People who did not send stuff should post. People who did not post should send stuff.

And then, just so it's not a simple reverse, some people should both post and send stuff.

And I suppose it's okay for a few people to neither post nor send stuff. But not too many

I would say, don't post anything more if you're going to submit. You're new, folks might overlook you.

And critiques for the author are 1/2 the reason for the game, don't be shy about critiquing then guessing, you might get lucky.

slightest clue who anyone was
Heh heh. I didn't when I started guessing and I still can't recognise anyone by their writing, but I just got on by random guesses. In fact I still do.

I don't think actually having a chance at getting the author right gets in the way in this particular game... [Smile]
