See www.asimovs.com.

Has anyone read Monstrous Regiment yet? Any opinions?

Woah ! I haven't read it (I can read in English but sometimes have some problems with the understanding of humour) but I like what Terry Pratchett writes... Hmmm... I expect that one with impatience !

I've never read a Pratchett book I didn't thoroughly enjoy. I hope I have that night off. Thanks for the heads-up, Stormy.

I liked Monstrous Regiment quite a bit, but I'm getting a little bit tired of his tendency to build entire subplots off of what were decent one-off jokes in an earlier book.

My memory is so rotten, and I read his books at long enough intervals, that I guess I just don't notice that stuff. [Smile]

I'm just amazed that he can put out books that are consistently funny and amusing.

Better than Douglas Adams. After the second book in Hitchhiker's, it just seemed so repetitive.

Never noticed the joke-into-subplot thing. Could you give an example?

Monstrous Regiment was good. It had Vimes, and any book with Vimes is great.

The crunchy bits are what make it good.
