Yeah, I used to play on Hatrack 1830's. . . and honestly, I really enjoyed it. However, it got to the point that all my creative energies were devoted to writing Joshua/Twilla/Miriam/Quincy stories, and I wasn't spending any time on my own stuff.

I was Erik Workowski of the original Rabbit Army (circa 1998/1999). He actually predates the OSC VBS by a year or so (VBS exists because a few of us had our own semi-private mailing list Battle School thing going, and after hearing some of OSC's thoughts on IP protection, we [okay, it was Barbara Walton] asked him about it, and he set up VBS).
In fact, the tunnels in the Battle School idea from the Bean series was inspired by a user named "rain" on that mailing list, who was the first to use the idea in one of our adventures.

I can't post the most active sixteen hours a day-seven to four is school and eleven to six I'm sleeping. For my time zone, most posts happen then!

But you're on now aren't you? *chuckles* Ok, I'll leave you alone now.
BTW, is Hatrack 1830's moving faster now? One reason I didn't start my character yet is because it was moving so slowly.

It's fast if you can hop in one of the storylines. Right now there's me, Tansy and Jim Smith I beleive in one and Billy Robertson, Scarlet Mallory, and some others in another. It goes at a more leisurely pace so you don't have to worry about people getting too impatient in your abscence.

Ouch. Ok, I'll be nice. Sometimes it's nice to slow down and take a breather, though. It's a good thing Cat's in the infirmary, because I wouldn't be able to keep up.

Jenny Gardener was my first character on the 1830's forum. That's where I began my affair with Hatrack. I also wrote an entire cast of characters including Cain Hotblood (a horse), James X. Genteel (retired assassin), Henny (I forget her last name, but she raised chickens), Trout Fisher (Jenny's big brother), and Ambrose Milliner (foppish hatter). I really enjoyed the forum, but I grew away from it as I started working more on my own stories and embarking on my teaching career. I think the "play" forums are a great way to sharpen your writing skills, and the partnerships you create with other writers are thrilling.

I am Mereo on VBS. I also considered writing for Hatrack 1830's but I didn't seen any movement on it when I was considering it. I happen to post much more on VBS than I do here.

I've considered joining Hatrack 1830s, but I also saw nothing going on. Also, the rules shot down a couple of preliminary character ideas.
