So mine isn't a true horror story. I've survived much worse Thanksgivings. However, when we are supposed to be driving from Chicago to Dayton in my car and we walk out Thursday morning and find out it has a flat tire it isn't good.
So we take Steve's car. It is an extremely fun car, (Eclipse Spyder) but doesn't have the comfort factor that my spacious mini-van has for long trips. His seats try to re-arrange my shoulder blades. It is also a stick shift which he hasn't taught me how to drive so I can't share the driving either. Driving down I was pretty steamed the whole way about the flat tire.
While in Dayton we were supposed to be picking up two couches and a loveseat as well as other assorted articles of furniture that Steve's father is disposing of because he is selling his house and moving in with his gf. We figured that Friday there would be no problem renting a U-Haul and driving back. Well we were wrong. One way rentals are impossible to find the day after thanksgiving. We were running on a limited window of time because we needed to get back to Chicago before 8pm when the tire repair center at Costco closed. We gave them about 2 hours to find a u-haul and they couldn't. So we left, furnitureless.
I was really looking forward to getting these couches since our old college-student couch that we had gotten from a friend who bought a whole bunch of used furniture at an estate auction had broken last sunday. One of the rear legs cracked and gave way with near perfect timing (I thought)as far as acquiring the new furniture.
On a positive note, we ended up driving back and getting through Chicago before the snow fouled up the traffic. But I'm just bummed out because nothing really worked the way it was supposed to. It must be my karmic backlash for everything working smoothly last weekend with the OSC signing trip.

It's worth noting, though, that the holiday itself wasn't to blame; the other plans fell through, but the holiday celebration itself remained intact. Right?

well, thanksgiving was really great right up until i had an asthma attack and had to go to the ER, hesitant as i was since i don't have health insurance.
this is not the first thanksgiving my lungs decided to up and burn out on me out of nowhere.
ha, my best friend even had me go through all the foods i eat on thanksgiving to make sure i wasn't allergic to any such seasonal items. and as i related to odouls on aim, i am so thrilled to have had medical treatment, that i am refusing to take off my hospital bracelet until it gets all clouded and gross. hey, it's gonna cost me a bajillion dollars, so i might as well turn it into a fashion statement.

Ouch porce, I'm glad you are ok. Yes Tom, I know, I should be thankful about all the little things. I'm doing better today, but yesterday I was just bummed out. Hanging out with Steve's family is great, because they are as non-judgemental as my parents are judgemental. The food was good, and I didn't eat too much.

Dan, oh my word, poor girl. I'm glad y'all know, though, so something can be done.

Holiday horror story - nothing too big. My 33-year-old cousin was in his usual fine form: vintage insecure jerk. It was kept on low, though, so it could be tuned out more than normal.
He bought his 19-year-old girlfriend D-cups for her birthday, so he can't be an all-bad guy, despire offering her to our other cousin. *goes to lie down*
