It's an indirect declaration of youth drug abuse. Much like the way fairies die every time somebody says they don't believe in them, every time somebody makes a landmark on Hatrack, they subliminally encourage a kid to pop a pill.
They like to hide their encouragement under the guise of life stories or other meaningful posts every 1000 posts or so.

Periodically, those of us who have been here a while post stories about bits of our lives--usually around intervals of 1000 posts, though if you really feel the need the number isn't that important. Some people like you to wait a while, because Landmark posts are archived, and it's no fun to wade through the fluff of newbies who rushed to a round number so they could make one, then vanished.
I posted my first a few days ago (under a different nick).
