Myr told me I was allowed to do this... Well, one month past that landmark thing I did, and some things have changes, just not all of them yet. I did indeed get graduated, and despite a brief scare with the Registar I actually have my diploma(s) and some transcripts saying I have been awarded my degrees. Whoo hoo.

Much to the joy of the majority, I'm out of Texas now. And I'm continuing to steadfastly ignore just about any sort of hints and whispers I hear about jobs there. I actually was pretty much offered a job at the post-graduation ceremony at a large firm in Dallas, but I still can't see myself going back there yet.

The general work environment is indeed tight for us architectural interns. Not bad, just tight. I've got a firm in Phoenix that seems very impressed with me, but does not currently have the work to support an additional leach (aka intern). I'm going to Phoenix to meet with them this coming Thursday I believe. One of the principal architects mentioned that even if they didn't think they would have work in the near future, they have plenty of connections to exploit.

On the slightly less metatropolis (yes, meta because Phoenix is all consuming) side of the world, I'm going in to meet with the architect in Tucson that I interned with. I'm using the guise of a research project I took part in (Donald Judd in Marfa) to talk to the principal, and then I'll smoothly change the subject to firms in Tucson that have recently been awarded large projects. Or see if their firm has opened up a Prescott office like they've threatened.

I'm also planning a canvassing of the country with resumes, with firms in Memphis, Nashville, Ft. Worth, San Diego, and LA marked for the first distribution. If this comes across as a bit of a desperation mailing, it might be.

But all in all I'm well, and I figured that posting once a month is allowable (my plan was to not post until I actually had a job). Though, my real reason for posting this is to give the link to my portfolio, which while I think just about everyone who would be interested in it has seen it (all five of you I believe), I never know how many others just might be curious.

Thanks to all of you who posted in the last thread. I did peek in around the 20th just to see who had spoken up. And now I've caught up on the few since then. Until either I get another job, or another month passes...

PS: If anyone knows of some architecture firms looking for interns, feel free to e-mail them to me (don't make me beg).

PPS: If any of the Phoenix crowd reads this and is open for lunch on Thursday, you can e-mail me as well.

PPPS: I hope you WenchCon people are enjoying yourselves. I will make it to one of those someday. Maybe even one on the east coast.

Your portfolio looks so spiffy. I wish I could put together something that looks that impressive.

So of course last night(/this morning) I push Add Reply and my computer dies and refuses to turn back on. *sigh*

Just wanted to say again, very cool portfolio... I think I heard through the grapevine that a firm in RI is hiring [Smile]

Good luck etc etc!
