Incredible movie. It managed to empathize with Aileen Wuornos without ever suggesting that she wasn't guilty of out and out murder. And Charlize Theron's performance was uncanny.
There was an advance screening for the local press and about half of the crowd were from our newspaper (Daytona Beach News-Journal). Fitting, since this happened here and most of the news coverage was ours. They shot a lot of the footage here -- which gave way to some mild heckling in the crowd, since some of the landmarks they made a point of posing in front of weren't here ten years ago -- and they really caught the feel of 80's Daytona Beach.
But, damn. That's an Oscar waiting to happen.

Even a quick full-frontal shot and a girl-on-girl scene with Christina Ricci didn't change that fact that Theron as Wuornos is just scary.

Charlize Theron certainly isn't pretty in this movie. In a way I kind of wish that I hadn't known who the main actress was because every so often I would look at the screen and wonder how they made Charlize look like that. Her performance was amazing and truly scary at several points.
Overall, I liked the movie and thought it was very good although I wouldn't go so far as to say that I enjoyed it.
