Here at work, we are sure getting hit by that new Bagel virus a lot. We had all the updates to anti-virus in place, and it is being caught on the exchange server instead of propagating, but I'm just amazed at the volume.

Anyone of you other IT guys having similar experience?

Nope. We caught the Symantec alert early, and made the changes on the firewall to block the reporting traffic.

And it helps that no one in our office dares open any attachments any more. . .

We're also getting hit here at school, it's rather sad. The only way the virus propagates is by people taking the effort to actually open the .exe...the really sad thing is, the virus was first propagated (on campus) by the two heads of our IT department. First rule of email: DO NOT OPEN UNKNOWN ATTACHEMENTS. You'd think the heads of a college IT department would know that. Of course, what's even worse...is that they're using Eudora.

I haven't seen it yet, which means our guys probably have the updates for it in place (that's a first). Actually, as I'm typing this, our antivirus software just restarted, so it's probably being updated right now. I'm surprised I haven't gotten the frantic callers looking for antivirus software yet.

Well, we blocked it early as well, and did not have any machines infected (I probably didn't make that clear in my first post) so we don't actually have any going through for the stupid users to click on.

I was just meaning reading the log files from what is being blocked -- it is hitting the firewall many more times that I expected.

Bagel's hitting the firewall fairly hard, but it's not generating any internal traffic. It appears that there are more stupid users still on the Internet than I would have assumed; I figured the SoBig virus would have killed off the dumb ones a while back.
